A music executive who was critically injured by a gunman who opened fire Friday on passing motorists in Hollywood has died of the gunshot wounds he sustained, Los Angeles police said.

Music and real estate executive John Atterberry was driving near Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street when he was blasted three times in the face and neck by the gunman, later identified by authorities as Tyler Brehm, 26.

Brehm began firing a .40-caliber handgun at motorists, police said. He shot Atterberry's silver Mercedes-Benz coupe.

The loser saw someone driving a Mercedes, and singled him out as the victim.

What’s Missing from This L.A. Times Account of the Hollywood Shooting? How about the fact that a witness says the gunman was shouting “Allahu Akbar”?

The gunman was shot dead by the cops.
Saved L.A. the price of the trial and long imprisonment.
Tsk, have I turned THAT callous?

He’s shooting at people driving cars that could have taken him out. Use the car as a weapon if there is a guy shooting at you.

Nope, he was shooting nearly point blank at 20 year old, beat up pickup trucks too.

Not gonna happen soon in Kalifornia, but this is another very good reason in support of concealed carry...one good guy with a gun could have stopped the mayhem long before the cops got there.

The video showed him standing in the middle of the street with his hands at his side. When a car passed he’d raise the gun and take a pop at them. The drivers didn’t know he was armed until it was too late.

Oh stop this BS...They couldn't stop the shooting to death of 13 people, with 29 wounded, on a freaking U.S. military base in Texas.

The shooting suspect on Sunset only killed one person, and the shooter was shot dead within several minutes after he started shooting.

BTW I support any CCW laws.

In fact, I believe *any* law abiding U.S. citizen should be able to CC, and government at all levels should be held directly responsible for those victims who were denied or harmed by not being allowed to provide for their own safety.

“Oh stop this BS...”

LOL, yes, but sometimes it is very effective...it might even be so in Kalifornia. :)

And if I remember, there were ‘rules’ about ‘carry’ at Ft Hood...it took a female civilian security cop to stop the Bummer Buddy.

Have you been on a military base in the last couple decades? None of the soldiers who were shot were armed. You can't carry a concealed weapon on a domestic military base.

Yeah, I know about the rules, but the military bases I served there were armed MP's all over the place. And this occurred on a military base in Texas during wartime? How sad is that?

In any event, my point is, even in states where CW is common, when this type of thing *suddenly* occurs, very rarely is someone with a CW, ready and armed up ready to shoot the bad guy before he can do harm. If that was the case, we'd never see any mass shooting in CW states. No?

Again, the suspect in this incident was shot to death within several minutes. Only one fatality. It's naive to think even in states were CCW are common, someone is suddenly going to appear, ready for combat, killing the bad guy before he can do harm. Unfortunately, that isn't reality.

The bad guy generally always has the drop, ya can't stop someone who wants to suddenly unload, unless ya know what's coming, or are literally, right there ready. The odds are not great regardless of the venue.

Real life aint Hollywood, where the good guy always wins, and is johnny on the spot hero.
