Israel has every legal and moral right to stage a pre-emptive strike on Iran, renowned legal expert Prof. Alan Dershowitz said in Tel Aviv on Monday. He also wants to hear U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speak out more strongly against Iran.
Speaking at the annual business conference sponsored by Globes, Dershowitz stated that regardless of whether or not it would be wise for Israel to attack, Israel has the right morally and legally to strike Iran just as it did on [the nuclear facility] in Iraq in 1981. Having the right to attack does not mean that it should do so, but I would defend Israels right.
Despite the deep and positive security relationship between the United States and Israel, he fears that there may be a disconnect over Irans race to produce a nuclear weapon and reach the capability to stage a nuclear attack on Israel.

Team O.J.
The legal right for what nations do comes from their ability to get away with it.
That’s a different thread.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Damn, what’s come over the Dersh?
I fear that he may be right:
And before anyone lectures me on 'Laws of Land Warfare'... I've sat through that briefing and delivered it many times.
War is what happens when laws break down.
I would personally like for Israel to take out Iran's nuclear capablility, regardless of the legality. The morality is clear.

Dersha is an asswipe. Israel doesn’t need any legal excuse or any reason to drop on Iran. Hey Bebe, let er rip...
And when that starts a nuclear war between Israel and Iran, and other countries of the Middle East join with Iran in a massive full out war, then what?
After consideration... I have to agree that is an accurate statement.
However... part of the problem is that pretending War has laws governing it. That gives people excuses to punish people after wars or establish international courts.
If you win and you want to hang the other guys, go for it. Don't look for a fig-leaf called 'law'.
I'm fighting against the establishment of any 'law' that presumes to control sovereign nations. Besides, of course, raw power.

Then, Damascus burns and Carthage delenda est.. Oh... wait. That's already happened. Several times.
Untwist the panties and man up.
I would bet on Israel winning and us having very, very few problems with islamofacists moving forward.
Pershing had their measure, and took the right steps.

Dershowitz is an unabashed liberal, and is wrong on many issues. However, he has been a consistent supporter of Israel, and I give him credit for that.
