I bought a 20’ extendable fiberglass pool skimmer handle and put a hook on the end. They go up pretty fast now, I used to make Clint Jr climb the tree LOL!

LED Icicles across the roof line is my next investment for next year. LEDs are expensive but they last a long time because they are so low wattage. And you can string up to 10 together IIRC.
LOL, Mr.FF has an exendable pole made for Christmas lights. It hooks them into those thingies you put on the gutters, even puts the thingies on the gutters too. But he doesn’t use it for the lights in our tree, go figure.
