Not a smart move by Newt. He was doing just fine ignoring Romney and letting Mitt destroy himself.
What if Romney takes Gingrich up on that? I bet it would bankrupt Gingrich, but not bankrupt Romney.
He’s just saying money earned in the private sector is eligible to keep.
If it all isn’t “keep-able” then what criteria is there to help decide?
But he did frame mitten’s work in a poor light - which was not good.
Occasionally guys that are considered really really smart get to the point that they think they are smarter than they actually are and they say something stupid. Gingrich seems to do that every once in awhile like he did here.
I’m not sold on Newt.
What a dipshit misleading title...if anything he was attacking him for bringing up anything unrelated to politics, legally done, in order to earn a living and pointing out the hypocrisy of posing as a conservative while doing it. I’d say Newtron has a pretty good conservative bead on the bastrd.
The question is and remains....
IS Gingrich a “progressive” Trojan Horse full of all manner of nasty future deeds..?
Waiting for conservatives to sneak out and embrace him?..
And pull him behind the republican walls..
The point Newt was trying to make is that if you’re going to take the liberal approach & attack me for practicing capitalism, then I will call on you to practice what you preach & take the liberal approach & give back the Bain “ill gotten”.
I think you’re close.
I would say that sometimes guys who are really smart feel the need to show it at every opportunity - even when they shouldn’t.
Neither DC consulting nor Wall Street work like Bain Capital is really what you and I would call “free enterprise” - and maybe Newt should have taken that tack instead of the one he took
Or better yet, just ignore it and keep attacking Obama and the media.
>> Actually, (and I am not by any means a Newt supporter), this was actually quite intelligent of Newt. It goes a long way of explaining the Myth of Myth Romney’s vaunted and empty business acumen. >>
I see your point, but Newt doesn’t need to do that. He is going to beat Mitt unless he does something stupid, period. He has taken the lead by being positive towards all the GOP folks and very negative towards Obama and the media. And that’s what he should keep doing.
Mitt is not going anywhere so there is no need to take down his Bain Capital experience - though I hear where you are coming from.
Newt is a duplicitous snake in the grass who can’t be trusted. He is a loose canon, and if the Pubs vote him into office, they will find that out in short order. That’s not even mentioning his obvious Napoleon complex.
Destroy each other while the media snickers.
Meanwhile Obama cruises and the media still treats his every inane mumble and exaggeration as if each word was etched on a scroll from the mountaintop.
.
A stupid comparison by the author. His point is valid. He crashed and burned companies purely for the profit. I was a victim of one of these, not by Bain but another. These companies were perfectly fine before getting looted by Romney and his legion of doom.
That was not an attack, it was a response to an attack..... and a good one.
LOL, you tagged it.
