Some incorrect versions of the story have Newt “asking” for a divorce while his estranged wife is on her “deathbed.” What Newt’s daughter clarifies is that Newt wanted to “discuss” the details of the divorce agreement with his wife, in the presence of their children, while she was in the hospital recovering from surgery for removal of a benign growth. Newt has admitted the truth of the “clarified” version.
