Seriously... that’s his bloodline?
I see the Franklin genes..... but Grant? Churchill?
President Andrew Johnson wanted to have Lee put on trial for treason. Grant considered that a violation of the parole given to Lee at Appomattox Court House and threatened to resign from his position as General of the Army unless Johnson dropped the idea. Lee, for his part, never let anyone say anything negative about Grant in his presence.
Flood was asked about the story that when Lincoln was told that Grant was a drunkard, that he wanted to know the brand of whiskey Grant drank and he would send a barrel of it to each of the other generals. Turns out the story is not true--someone who had heard it told it to Lincoln and he denied having said it.
About 30 years ago Flood published a very good book on Lee's final years (after the end of the war).
This is rather fascinating, and it explains Newt’s relevancy far longer than it would/should have been sans such a lineage.
I’m not one of those roots.com people but my sister is, and she could map your mongrel rescue dog to the Queen’s Corgis in half an hour.
If this lineage is true, you can see where Newt and Churchill have the same... probably paternal heritage, same nose, same thick eyebrow ‘pads’, same jaw line, same downward edge-of-mouth, same absence of cheekbones, same eyebrows, same that hollow-spot-under the nose.
Where Franklin and Grant have the same sort of nose.
I see uniting genes in all of these. Maggie, what do you make of all this? Besides a hat, brooch or pterodactyl.
