Except that the position the campaign was putting forward actually was correct. Perry did mention the 1962 decision a few minutes before the 8 justice reference, and the vote in the Abington decision was 8-1. I stood corrected in my criticism of Perry over the eight justice remark and said such this morning. I actually was waiting for Perry to spank Wallace for cause when the question came out, and Perry missed a golden opportunity to do such.
Perry is really weird that way. He had a perfectly valid reason for the eight justice statement and couldn't hold to it under the pressure of an interview - it's like he freezes up and has not gone through a mock interview with his staff first to prepare. That is NOT how you run an effective campaign. You work on forming messages and sticking to them. He could have put forward the case to Wallace that he was correct and the MSM is too quick to attack him. Instead he just reinforced the image Wallace was wanting to portray of him. Yet another unforced error.

Perry’s freeze-ups remind me a lot of W. I can’t remember how many articles I read about people meeting him in person & how he could go on in infinite detail about the various mid-east countries or this & that. But in front of a microphone (& a hostile press) he ended up looking like a deer in the headlights. I can understand why, but it’s just so unfortunate. You’d think they’d get used to it after awhile & relax.
I missed all of the morning programs. Both cable TV and Internet were out most of the morning.
Looks like FR is having its own Temporary Service Outage problems.
Despite the insinuations of some on this thread, I WANTED Perry to bite Wallace in the ass for that one. I knew the position the campaign had put forth just the day before, and I was waiting for for Perry to launch into a “Chris, you ignorant slut” rebuttal - Wallace walked right into it. But Perry flubbed the opportunity. Even though Perry is not my first choice, it helps all of the GOP candidate when one of them gives pinheads like Wallace a well-deserved smackdown for having the facts wrong in their attacks on a candidate. You don’t get that many such golden opportunities to make them look like unprepared idiots, and Perry missed out on it. It really was a shame that he did.
What is far more important to me is the kind of judges the next President will appoint to the Supreme Court.

I guess you are unfamiliar with the position Perry's own campaign put out on this. Perry did mention the 1962 decision a few minutes before the eight justice comment.
Perry had a golden opportunity to spank Wallace and instead just reinforced the portrait Wallace was trying to paint of him.
BTW, you have to get to the White House before you can appoint justices. Perry isn't showing he is taking this run seriously to me.

Good analysis of why the conservatives always seem to get beat. Politics is war by other means - but the outcome means play to win, not draw or lose!
Does putting words in the mouths of other FR posters while not pinging them come naturally to you? You really are a slimeball, pretending to be above the mudslinging as you toss it around by the bucketload. Just admit it - you are acting as a political campaign hack, and you don't care who you impugn in your warped notion of advancing such
Oh, and I really could care less what you think of me. Just pointing out your Little Miss Innocent routine to those who might be fooled by such.
BTW, it's better to have a bug up one's butt than one's head up there such as in your case.
I think you underestimate the general public’s ability to sniff out a liar and a fraud...
Oh wait...
The “general public” elected a corrupt, incompetent, Marxist, “community organizer” from Chicago as President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Nevermind.
This is happening on all threads right now, unfortunately. And while it seems to happen only on Sundays, it’s happening more frequently on other days, too.
I would say probably what happened is that the campaign put that out without telling him so.
Campaign stuff = spin. Perry - telling what really happened.
It is not unusual for there to be miscommunication in the frenzy around Iowa and the debates.
All it tells me is that he has some people who need to not release statements without going through him.
You will probably see this type of thing with all of the candidates in the next couple of months. Newt is able to cover it to some extent because he is a fast talker (and a bit better BS artist than Perry). But it WILL happen.
I am making my decision based on things other than TALK. TALK is how we ended up with Obama.
Well the denial of service is cutting way back on our dialog and possibly thus our effectiveness. Probably a cyber-attack from the bad guys. Have to be ready for anything. Ned to get battle hardened for the upcoming skirmishes and 2012 endgame.
OK, I will chime in and ask everyone to keep it civil, please.
I believe Dirtboy has the right to speak his opinion on Perry, and Altura has the right to defend Perry.
Why should either opinion be taken personally??? Let’s not do that on this thread, at least.
We all can dislike or like any candidate we wish; yet please, show some respect.
So you are telling me that Perry was so unprepared for the FNS interview that he could not be bothered to find out the position his campaign had staked for him on this issue the day before? A position supported by a careful reading of the transcript of the interview in question? For a issue that Wallace was very likely to raise?
This is a presidential campaign. You have to have a well-oiled campaign machine to compete. If Perry can't be bothered to coordinate what he says with what the campaign is putting out, that in the end is entirely his problem and hamstrings his own chances.
I will post to others as they post to me.
Is this an attack? It is illegal to do this sort of thing, are we calling law enforcement in?
BTW, it’s not impossible to find the offenders. But someone’s got to call the fuzz, first.
Jim?
