The designations for U-2 in any of its forms (also TR-1 and ER-1) does not follow convention, nor did the designation "SR-71".
Funny, I worked on a sub for ages on an ANQ WLR-4

What's the stall speed of an ANQ WLR-4? What's it's max gross? What kind of engines does it have?

I also worked MLQ 38 and 39 I forget the nomenclature for the Blackhawk I now it was ALQ, and I cant recall the nomenclature fore the Marine LAV based platform.

If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. Governor Perry has been talking about drones in the air over our border ever since I heard him talk to Gretta Van Susteren. And Perry has pointed the finger to the border problem at Herr Zer0 for years.
When life becomes endless rounds of golf and luxury vacations, the mind goes soft. Herr Zer0’s mind has got soft. It is in the fantasy world of the Unicorn Farm. His mind is consumed with getting those big rich guys who are taking money from the poor and middle class--instead of our enemies in Iran.
Start asking these questions Herr Question Maker: How did the drone get on the ground without a scratch? How do you suppose Iran is able to hack into the operating controls of our drones and now, with a click of a laptop, cause the drone to land at the feet of our Iranian enemies? How were these top secrets compromised to unlock the code that controls the drone?
Iranian TV has broadcast footage of an advanced US drone aircraft that Tehran says it brought down using electronic methods to override its controls. This is a huge security leak. Iran will make sure everybody and their uncle will be able to defeat our drones. No more finding Osama bin Laden or taking out a terrorist.

Perry might not have detailed knowledge of the various UAV/UAS we play around with, but he has good instincts regarding how they should be handled. He also correctly recognizes the threat posed to these United States by Zero's unpatriotic feckless idiocy.
