>> Just wondering what the backlash will be on Perry. Im guessing the evangelicals wont take kindly to Perry having a top gay staffer.>>
That is a knee jerk and totally counter productive response. Perry’s campaign has been a great campaign on all social issues and if that can be done with a gay staffer, more power to the campaign.
Now, if the staffer were a gay activist, that’s something else - which he obviously was not. As a Christian, it’s a non factor to me. It’s not like there has been even a whiff of gay activism on Perry’s part.

The staffer has worked with GOProud and the log cabin republicans.
Doesn't bother me either. But, considering Perry's recent ad, he may have some explaining to do. Honestly, all he has to say is, 'I hired the best people for the job. As long as they support my campaign and the values it stands for. What they do in their private life is no business of mine.'

(You do not advance conservatism by becoming more liberal.)

Tony Fabrizio has done work for "gay rights" groups, which makes him a gay activist in my book. If you're out there trying to promote the homosexual agenda, whether you're just doing it for the money, or because you believe in it, you're not a Conservative.
Perry will probably ask him to leave, because folks are going to be asking why Perry would spend their campaign donations on a guy who has promoted "gay rights".
