Police and Occupy the Rose Parade demonstrators had a meeting of the minds this week, with protesters who plan a post-Rose Parade march down Colorado Boulevard promising not to disrupt the main event and police ensuring the demonstrators would be treated fairly as long as they keep their word.

In a meeting Wednesday with Police Chief Phillip Sanchez and other department brass, Occupy the Rose Parade organizers agreed not to disrupt official Rose Parade proceedings.

“We want to make sure this is completely non-disruptive to the main parade,” said Occupy the Rose Parade organizer Peter Thottam.

“We’re going to work with [Occupy] to ensure that the parade goes smoothly and they have the opportunity to have their voice,” said police department spokeswoman Lt. Phlunte Riddle.

Law enforcement and government have been WHIPPED by the "Occupy movement." I have news for Pasadena: You do not have the right to negotiate a disruption to the Rose Parade, which is a sacred tradition of decent, law abiding AMERICANS. To say the least, I am furious and disgusted.

On Jan. 2 Occupy demonstrators plan to display signs near the Norton Simon Museum, across from television cameras, before banding together to carry a 250-foot banner of the U.S. Constitution from Orange Grove Boulevard to a post-parade rally at Pasadena City Hall.

Thottam said they also would display “a giant octopus to represent Wall Street’s stranglehold on the economy and the political system.”

Police also agreed to let the Occupy group assemble for a procession in Singer Park at the corner of California Boulevard and St. John Avenue, Thottam said.

"I have about had enough of this “Occupy” BS."

Who is funding and organizing the Occupy Movement?

The snot-nosed little brats must think that they aren’t getting enough attention from their tantrums. Now they want to have a parade. The adults in this country really need to wake up and start paddling some brat @$$ like they did back in the day.

Turn on to the OWS anarchists, turn off to the rest of us. I think I will arrange the sock drawer rather than watch the parade.

Tasers, truncheons, and nightsticks.

And I’m not talking about LEO’s, either.

“We want to make sure this is completely non-disruptive to the main parade,”

So why bother?

Everything on a float has to be covered with something organic. I'd vote for poison oak, but fear they'd end up covering it like the famous cop car photo.

The only 'Occupy' movement we'll never see is 'Occupy Reality.'

This is great, these idiots have no clue what they are in for. Note: there will be the normal parade, followed by AAA trucks, Pasadena Police trucks, 9 motorcycles and then the normal after parade. From years past, that slot has been occupied by evangelicals and I sincerely doubt that’s going to change this year (they are highly organized and have always slipped in as first on the after parade...)

The tv cameras have rarely ever shown it, and I doubt that will change this year. Next is CalPoly which has held the infamous Norton Simon position for decades. Again, highly organized and will be there the moment it is possible. Pasadena PD will physically remove anyone who breaks the rules.

Occupotty has no shot at this. Oh, and good luck reaching Pasadena City Hall.
