I’d rather they just stay inside the box. I’m not interested in Newt conservative ideas to fix liberal problems nor his liberal ideas to fix conservative problems.

We spend too much money. We can’t afford dancing mirrors.

Right. At one time someone was sitting around saying “What if we could go to the Moon?” and another someone was sitting there saying “That’s a stupid idea.”

he thinks government can incentivize the production of new energy technologies, which would consequently help the environment and the economy by making the country less dependent on foreign oil.

Yes, Yes, that worked so well with Solyndra.

An aspect of the first phase of creative thinking includes others “tailgating” on the ideas. Bringing them up in a public forum, with invitation for others to contribute is refreshing, and much more palatable then the 0bama's or any other politician's imperial dictates.

It didn't occur to me that an idea to solve a technical problem or enhance a process should be considered from a political aspect.

Large, light, aiming and focusing mirrors (think Mylar umbrella) or collections, could be put in earth orbit to enhance sunlight flux for various purposes; such a project doesn't have to be government funded, but perhaps licensed (rocket launch, system safety, public concerns, etc.).

I wonder how the world would react if Russia decided to make Siberia, or even Moscow, warmer by deploying such a system? I guess the Anthropogenic Climate Change crowd would blow a cork!

Seems to be general human nature to ridicule new ideas.

That's too bad. I've often been inhibited from elaborating on ideas that I've not had the skill or time to seriously evaluate, but superficially, seem practical and maybe even valuable. I guess fear of ridicule suppresses many good ideas.
