I have no idea but as this story became a big deal, the new accusers seem to have more and more dramatic accounts. Maybe it happened that a kid was kept in the basement, and maybe it didn’t.

More dramatic accounts may be stated...I don't know but what I do know, as far as what I've read, there were witnesses to his perversion/depravity.
