I wonder if any of his campaign staff were aware of the infamous history of Osawatomie? Why speak at a town that only has 4,400 people?
Or why infamous and murderous pre-Civil War revolutionary John Brown was called “John Brown of Osawatomie?”
During the events known as “Bloody Kansas”, Brown and his followers used a cabin there as their headquarters to ambush and murder pro-slavery Kansans.
And, on being indicted by a grand jury on multiple counts, Brown ordered a massacre of members of the grand jury, in which they were beheaded with artillery swords.
An account of one of the massacres carried out by Brown and his followers in Kansas.
Thanks for the info. Liberal Marxists such as Obama and Hillary are big into symbolism when giving speeches. You can bet he knew of the background of “Bloody Kansas” when he gave his Marxist speech there.
Because Teddy Roosevelt did.

I would think they do. I was taught the basics of Marxist thought during my time in college, and one of the core elements is that there is no good or bad - there is just pro-communist and anti-communist. The anti-communist forces have to be killed in order for the revolution to advance. That isn’t “good” for those being killed, but it is good for humanity (according to the Marxists). The actions by John Brown were acceptable in that form of thinking.
Not only that, but his speech was filled with Marxist rhetoric. It wasn’t even hidden in metaphor - it was out in the open. God help us.
Yes, he was head quartered in Osawatomie while in Kansas but the massacre he was famous for in Kansas, was at Pottawatomie, Kansas, 137 miles away from where Obama was in Osawatomie.
John Brown was my g/g/grand father. That doesn't make me an expert but I have read a lot about him.
FYI...the other side ravaged Topeka.
Don’t know why you blame everything on Brown.
I am more pro-southern with regards to the war, but still, Brown was vicious.
