He has surged to the top of the polls, having been crowned the latest Tea Party favorite by the movements rank and file. Newt Gingrichsappeal is not universal among Tea Party conservatives, but for now he is their anointed warrior, boosted by his string of fiery debate performances filled with irreverent quips.
As Gingrich courts the group that will be so crucial to his success in Iowa and beyond, Gallups latest poll of registered Republicans and Republican-leaning independents has him winning 47 percent of voters nationally who say they support the Tea Party movement. (More than half of Republicans consider themselves Tea Party supporters.) A month ago, Gingrich garnered 18 percent of Tea Party support, behind Herman Cain and Mitt Romney.
Obviously, hes really kind of taken over among that group, said Jeff Jones, the Gallup Polls managing editor. Theyve been casting about, looking for someone who is a better fit for them than Romney is. It looks like everyones had their chance and basically squandered it, so that leaves Gingrich.

I don't see her endorsing Newt or Mitt.
So, who will she endorse? ...I'm guessing Rick Perry after the 1st of the year.
That's a helluva statement about the current condition of the GOP.
I would have to hold my nose to vote for Newt, much like I did when I voted for McCain.
The Grinch could very well take the Tea Party down with him.
But Newt has very little to do Tea Party ideals other than his early years and Balance Budget measure.....he is a Washington insider
Obviously, hes really kind of taken over among that group, said Jeff Jones, the Gallup Polls managing editor.
Uh...no.
If/when Palin endorses Perry, there will be a marked shift in perception, methinks.
The tear down of Newt has started. Allegations of affair:

No kidding. Newt is a complete repudiation of everything the tea party stands for.
The Grinch could very well take the Tea Party down with him.
The DC Hacks on both sides would love that.
The Tea Party support moved to Newt after Cain left but I doubt it will stay there.
These folks are new to politics and they know nothing about Newt’s past.
Sarah Palin - last night on with Eric Boiler on the Fox Business News:
“Mr. Gingrich, show us what you have done to fight that [corruption], so that we can through relentless and sudden reform that is needed with a new President, that you can be the one to continue that reform. Now, if you haven’t been a fighter and successfully helped reform, well then you’re not going to get voted into office, and I’m saying that not specifically to Gingrich but to ANY of you, any of the candidates who have been a part of the problem, you’re NOT GOING TO GET MY SUPPORT, you’re not going to get most Independents’ and Conservatives’ support, you’re not going TO BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. We want to know WHAT YOU HAVE DONE to successfully fight for the reform and the anti-corruption practices that we need to adopt.”
She says that Gingrich IS a Washington, DC insider, and needs to ask for forgiveness.

Behind newt? Not so much.
I thought a recent poll said 60% of TP haven’t rallied behind anyone yet
“The DC Hacks on both sides would love that”
Yes, they would.
Newt is an insider; ie. Scozzafava ... don’t trust him either.
“The tear down of Newt has started. Allegations of affair:”
It will be tough to tear him down over that since he’s already admitted and apologized for them publicly... It seems to me the the affairs have already been discounted in his support.
Are people going to say “gosh he’s had one I hadn’t heard about?”. Cant vote for him now...
Not this Tea Party Member nor any of the others I know of personally. We can do better then the 3 Rinos: Romney, Newt and Huntsman.
“and needs to ask for forgiveness.”
And of course he has admitted his past mistakes and ask for forgiveness... Weren’t you paying attention?
