Palin Endorses Trump Debate, Urges Candidates to Join

Sarah Palin is urging Republican presidential candidates to take part in the Newsmax ION Television 2012 Presidential Debate moderated by Donald Trump.

The former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate made her endorsement in an interview to air Wednesday night on the Fox Business Network. Palin’s endorsement is the latest high-profile conservative to support the debate set for Dec. 27.

"I think candidates should not be afraid in front of the nation no matter who the host of the debate is,” Palin said. “What is a bit appealing about this idea of Trump hosting a debate is, consider the diverse audience that perhaps he can attract. It's important that independents and those who are not obsessed with inside-baseball partisan politics, which is most of us, we'd like to hear more of the message of each one of these candidates and perhaps Donald Trump will be able to attract a diverse demographic that maybe has not been as interested in this horse race thus far.

"America needs to wake up to what is going on under Obama's socialist policies and how he will bankrupt the country. I'm looking at the debate as a positive thing because of that fact."(continued)

Trump, not a Republican, still may be bitter he didn’t get a President Hillary Clinton in 2008, that also explains being politically bipolar and not knowing the difference between Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

Me too! It is only emboldening the circus atmosphere. Why is Sarah endorsing this? Maybe indianrightwinger has a point.

Decades of incremental, positional jockeying are over and ALL options are now on the table to deal with any obstacles

They have been at this for almost a hundred years, and they are not about to give up now.

Ted Baxter is right about as often as that proverbial blind pig.

It is a sad commentary on the American people that three million people STILL watch this socialism-enabling jackass on a nightly basis...

I love Sarah for her love of the Republic, her strength under adversity but she is wrong on this debate show.

It won’t be long before the motives of the ‘Donald’ becomes clear and, I hope, when that happens she finds the time to rethink her position.

I don't agree. I resent the ongoing pilgrimage to kiss Trump's ring and his caboose. There's nothing positive to be gained from an endorsement by that POS.

I really don't get people with your position? Trump, whatever you think of him, is a cultural icon and as such will bring a huge audience to this debate. This debate may likely attract more independents and even dems than the past debates have done. It is funny to watch the established repub elites decry this debate and say it cheapens the process...are you kidding? We just had a president say the other day that “We need to be uppin our game.”
This is a new day, a new election process, the old rules are not working as they once did. The candidates who don't attend do so at their own peril. I hope there are only three or four that show up so that we can give more time for each to answer.

Trump, whatever you think of him, is a cultural icon and as such will bring a huge audience to this debate.

He's also a self-worshipping glory hound who will want something substantive in return for an endorsement. They're cheapening themselves and their candidacies by playing the role of applicant in a grotesque remake of "The Apprentice."

I'm not a backer of Ron Paul, Jon Huntsman or Mitt Romney, but all three deserve props for steering clear of Trump. Trump is amoral, with nothing underpinning him but money, and IMO, he'd support Pol Pot if he got a juicy enough deal from it.

I completely agree. Trump should NEVER be trusted.

She’s probably gone a lot further than you in life with her “word salads”.

So has Obama. Does that make him better than you?

Sounds like a fun TV event.

After raising hell with the “birther” issue, Trump has shown a knack for throwing stones. Good for him and good for the nation. We need a LOT MORE stirring of the pot.

In fact, I’m disappointed that none of the GOP candidates have engaged in any yelling or angry rhetoric. After the Tea Party showing in 2010, I expected some real fire-and-brimstone speechifying and election promises this time around. But so far, nothing but the same-old, business-as-usual crap from the candidates. We need a champion! We need drastic change!

I just wonder what questions will be asked. Trump could unleash a few doozies, IMHO.

We’ll see. I think it will be the Trump show. And I’m far from a ‘republican elite.”

The Donald said he may run as an independent in 2012 if the candidates don’t meet his expectations. I can’t remember a moderator saying this before.

It won’t be moderated, it will be judged, by Trump. If there was a moderator choice that was even worse than what we’ve had, we’ve found it.

Trump cheapens everything he touches. Can you tell I loathe the guy? :)

This is not good for the party or the candidates. They should all skip it.

I say we will see what kind of clout she has by whether or not anyone who has so far declines changes his mind.

"I think candidates should not be afraid in front of the nation no matter who the host of the debate is,” Palin said.

A) Why would she imply that anyone not showing up is acting out of fear?

B)How many debates did she duck before she finally anoounced not to announce?

Please, just shut up and go away.

There’s no valid reason for any candidate to decline, unless they’re scared of The Donald......LOL.

________________________________

No valid reason to decline? How about the fact that Trump still might get in the race? Why should they submit to questioning by a potential rival?

Scared of Trump? I'd say that staying out of his little show indicates that they are not afraid of him.

I guess her endorsement of the event really didn’t mean much...at least not to Perry, Bachman, Huntsman or Paul...

Trump is nothing more than a celebrity. A media whore. A supposed EX-Democrat. It is VERY difficult for me to take anyone who spends time on The Howard Stern Show and the WWE seriously in a presidential media role.

Bottom line, when was the last time we heard from “The Donald”? A couple of months before The Apprentice came on TV.

When is he sticking his fake hair in this Presidential election? A couple of months before The Apprentice comes on TV....

Do the math folks. Not that hard....

Is it a stretch for us to keep it classy?
