Looking for Rick Perry's campaign website?
Make sure you get the URL right: RickPerry.org. If you instead type in RickPerry.com, you'll be sent to the website of a fellow Texan, Rep. Ron Paul.
But the Paul campaign says this wasn't their work.
"The Paul campaign does not have anything to do with this and does not appreciate this sort of thing," campaign spokesman Gary Howard told National Journal. "We are working now to resolve the issue."
Indeed, a search of domain-name records shows that Paul's real domain name is hosted at the popular registry GoDaddy and RickPerry.com is hosted by fabulous.com. Interestingly, domain-name records show RickPerry.com was originally registered in 1998, according to the records, when Perry was Texas agriculture commissioner.

ROFLOL.
I think Paul will either shut it down or hand it over to Rick. He may be strange on a lot of things, but he’s an honorable man and he will really dislike this being done.
Suuuure.
This happened within the last 48 hours. I checked on the .com domain 2 days ago and it was unclaimed, but suggested I go to the .org domain.
This is just scummy conduct by the Ron Paul campaign. It could even rise to the level of bait and switch or fraud. “By their fruits you will know them”.
I really think this kind of thing should be illegal, or at least reversible in civil court or ICAN.
This isn’t right. A person’s name is their property.
Of course a public person should be open to all kinds of public criticism and ridicule, but this is something different. This is a kind of identity theft.

“In fact, it seems as if Perryor a supporterdid own that domain at one point. According to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, which crawls websites and archives them, RickPerry.com redirected to RickPerry.org as late as 2009.”
Typical.

You could have prevented this.
For $15 at Godaddy you could have prevented this.
Why didn't you?
“This isnt right. A persons name is their property.”
Nonsense.
The domain name is not one’s property unless they secure the domain name.
The Ron Paul campaign is always denying they had anything to do with something, despite the fact that it always seems to be Paul or his supporters doing this kind of thing.
Yea, it may be legal, but it’s a low-ball, low-class, sleezy tactic. Typical of what comes out of the Ron Paul army.
I’m open to a Perry candidacy, but gee-whiz, this is a junior league mistake for a guy with $20 million.
You are certainly right that “camping” a .com of an entirely different person is a Dick Move (tm). I’m frankly surprised that Paul would have grabbed that site to begin with, if I’m understanding the facts right.
Thank you for the information.
The same kids are also trying to buy a Newt domain and do the same thing.

You mean to tell me that the Perry campaign never got around to registering Rickperry.com?
That actually does not surprise me, but is sure is funny.
