President Obama, in one of his most expansive speeches to date, declared on Tuesday that supply-side economics is a failure and called gaping inequality across the country a moral shortcoming that is distorting American democracy.
Obamas speech in Kansas was not just another attack on Congress, or a plea to pass his jobs bill. He did not roll out a new, snappy slogan such as telling the audience that we cant wait to enact new laws.
Instead, Obama delivered a searing indictment of Republican economic theory, setting the stage for the coming presidential campaign. Summoning the image of a populist Theodore Roosevelt in the same town (Osawatomie) where Roosevelt delivered a famous speech on economic fairness in 1910 Obama deployed the language of right and wrong, fairness and unfairness, in a lengthy address that aides said he largely wrote himself.
The theory of trickle down economics, which holds that greater wealth at the top generates jobs and income for the masses below, drew some of Obamas harshest criticism.

I thought he gave that speech in Texas.
Obama has the temerity and arrogance to speak of taking from the rich and giving to the poor while accepting all of the trappings of the rich that the Presidency will give him.
He speaks for the downtrodden while laughing at them and going on vacation in Hawaii for 17 days, not a month after returning from Hawaii.
He puts his kids in private school while destroying vouchers for kids who need them. Again, showing the arrogance of the powerful.
Then these people cheer for him. We should hate Obama because half of America is stupid enough to support him?
When he leaves the White House he will still be one of the 1%.
When will the people who back Obama wake up to the fact that Obama doesn’t give a sh*t about them. He is USING them.
Just as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have used them, only Obama is better at it.
What are these people(the aides and the compliant reporter) smoking?
I sense in you some cognitive dissonance.
Your mind tells you (correctly) that his man and his entire entourage are utterly corrupt, insane, demonic liars who are Hell bent on hastening the Wrath of God upon all mankind, yet somewhere emotionally you want to think that these people have even a tiny sense of decency and integrity.
The cure is to fully embrace the knowledge that they are all desperately wicked and every thought and intent of their hearts is evil and evil continuously

So the man who wanted to tie himself to Reagan now doesn’t like Reagan??? Oh I am shocked, shocked I tell you
I remember the 80’s. The 80’s were great. Obama must think we have no memory of better economic times.
Yes let’s do be fair. 9/11 happened when W was president. That could have economically destrpyed the coutry but it did not. Why because of tax cuts that encouraged business opportunities. Moreover, the housing fiasco is a product of the efforts of the likes of Frank, Dodd, et al to end ‘red lining’ in the loan market. Banks were required to give loans to those who would NEVER pay them back that led to corruption and greed ( oh I am stunned that government programs lead to corruption).
Capitalism is tha natural outgrowth of a free society. If you want collectivism go to Greece. I am sure they would love to have you
"Just as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have used them, only Obama is better at it."
He is a communist and yesterday dropped all pretenses.
F U B O ! ! !
And the same kind of way Bush 1 and Clinton benefited from the tech and internet boom. I think Bush 2 should really be given more credit. If only the warnings about Fanny and Freddie had been heeded we might have had a soft landing rather than a hard one.
We really have been living in a faux economy. Everyone was borrowing, especially the govt., and now the house of cards has collapsed.
It will take a true conservative to put things back in order he or she will be the most hated President of all time. Oddly, that is the scenario that I most hope for but I don’t think the voting masses any longer have the moral courage to take it (eat their peas if you take my meaning). The education system in this country has made sure of that.
Newt’s going to have fun with this one. Didn’t know the President wanted to have his head handed to him so soon.
Obama’s first three years can be characterized as the stealth installation of socialism. He would say things that would seem benign, then do things that were intended to stifle capitalism.
In his latest spate of speeches, probably born of the knowledge that he’s in trouble, he’s more open about his socialist leanings. I’d say we are witnessing desperation. He’s pleading with us to accept what he’s wrought, and it won’t work.
No Mr. Obamma the economy isn’t working now because of the 20+ million illegals who are taking jobs from us and taxing our generosity as well as your stupid policies. Numbers are hard to ignore - Bush 5% unemployment and you at 9%.
Joe the plumber was right about wealth redistribution.
Joe the plumber was right about wealth redistribution.
Use Obama as inspiration to do what you need to do to protect your family, your community and the country.
I have a few questions for Obama. You are commenting on and judging the effectiveness of various economic policies and theories. 1. Tell us about your study of economics. What have you read? 2. Economic results of your policies are disasterous, even compared to the evil Dubya Bush. What gives you the credibility to opine on economics?
False - obama is not crazy! He is a plotting, coniving, planning, and deliberate person.
All of this is intentional!
I am willing to pay to listen to Newt Gingrich dissect Obama’s speeches like a worm from now until Nov 6th next year. Daily entertainment.
