Pancreatic cancer is what Steve Jobs had. He fought it pretty well and lived longer than most do with that disease.

Steve Jobs had a neuroendocrine tumor. They are rare, slow growing and survivable. I've heard (I don't know it it's true or not) he, at first, refused to have surgery because it was 'too invasive' and tried some alternative medicine. The cancer spread to his liver and then it was too late. If he had gone with the surgery to begin with he would probably have lived a completely normal life. I was diagnosed with the same type of cancer 4 years ago. I had a 10 hour robot assisted laparoscopic surgery. They took my spleen and about 40% of my pancreas.

I had to get MRIs twice a year for couple of years and now only once a year. I'm not diabetic and I did not need any kind of radiation or chemo. I have no dietary restrictions. My doctor told me that this type of tumor doesn't usually begin to spread until it hits 3cm. They found mine at 2.5cm. I was lucky, but I did not hesitate to get the surgery.
