They have been practicing this level of stupidity for centuries.

Obviously, life (so much as it is,) goes on.

So the society is “ultra-conservative”, I don't think so. It is a morally bankrupt society that celebrates death and murder of innocents and exempts the guilty parties. Sounds rather like the liberals to me.

Thank gawd the the women’s rights groups, the UN and ACLU are working for change in this area.

Wait, has Afganistan been accepted to the UN and placed on the humans rights committee yet? They must be falling behind.

Additionally, in another strange twist, under Afghan law, the man can't marry until he's free. So Gulnaz, the victim, has to officially forgive him -- to get him out of prison -- so they can marry.

Works for me. Give her a pistol as a wedding gift. Ten seconds after the ceremony, a widow with a restored reputation and honor begins her new life.

I’d like to send a suitable wedding present. Is there a book titled “Memoirs of Lorenna Bobbit”? How about “Lizzie Borden’s Diary”?

The only good thing about being born in Afghanistan is life expectancy in that Islamic crap-hole is only 44 years.

But the “good” news is that the b@$t@rd can’t stay awake all the time after she marries him and moves in. If she has the nerve she’ll have opportunities to take him out.

Maybe she’ll be able to stage an “accident” for him, and escape punishment for her revenge.

Yesterday it was the “husband’s cousin” who raped her. Today it’s the “cousin’s husband” who raped her.
Nowhere does it say her attacker went to jail except at the very end - that she has to forgive him so he can get out of jail???? I didn’t know men went to jail for rape in muslim countries.

Don’t we have enough trouble keeping our sanity with the insanity of our politics without trying to make our way through gibberish like this?
