Chrysler Group LLC confirmed today that its new small car, the first vehicle to feature Fiat SpA (F.MI) technology, will be called the Dodge Dart.
The car, in production at the automaker's assembly plant in Belvidere, Ill., will be featured in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
With this vehicle, Chrysler will have a small-car offering in its portfolio for the first time in more than a decade. The car also will allow majority stakeholder Fiat to raise its stake in Chrysler by 5 percentage points to 58.3 percent once it is certified by the U.S. government as delivering 30 miles per gallon.
The car will be built on the underpinnings adapted from Fiat's Alfa Romeo Giulietta. A price wasn't disclosed.

1970 Plymouth Fury III.
One of the ugliest cars on the road along with the Plymouth Fury back in the 1970s . . . and the competition was pretty keen for that title at the time.
Come on, it doesn't look THAT bad! :-)
Loved mine. My grandma traded it in with only 40,000 miles on it. I bought it back from the dealer for $300 and drove it a hundred thousand miles. With a whole lot of carb rebuilds, a tranny rebuild, and tons of new starters. Dang, that thing ate starters. :-)
But you just couldn't kill those 318s.

If that's your Fury, I have to admit it looks pretty good. No complaints on the get up and go, but it seemed the distance from the windshield to the front bumper was about half the car. That's the main thing which made it ugly.
And don't get me started on how they ate starters! You're so right! The last one I drove was finally sent to the boneyard when it dropped a rear differential one morning as I was exiting an off-ramp.
In those days, at least, a kid could do a lot of their own repairs. I developed a lot of patience due to a short pocketbook.

No, that’s not mine, although mine looked pretty much like it. Just an image I grabbed off Google. :-)

I found my first car on Google as well:
1968 Chevrolet Impala, except the vinyl roof was peeling and I didn't have the redwall tires. Otherwise, it was the same right down to the colors and the 327 engine. Beautiful car. I paid $500 for it in 1974. It outlasted the Fury by about 10 years.

More jobs for the Chrysler Group are the good news, reports Automotive News. Creation of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel will begin soon, making a third shift at a Detroit construction plant necessary. At least 1,100 employees will supposedly be taking on the task. Source of article:
Chrysler to add workers for 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel production. Thanks Chrysler for this employment opportunity.

“The slant six, along with the 318, were some of the best engines Detroit ever produced as far as reliability goes IMHO.”
I never could stand Mopar or Chrysler products.
Yet I have to agree with you here.
