Nancy Pelosi retreating from insinuations of new dirt on Newt Gingrich.

For those who missed it:

Last Friday Nancy Pelosi told Talking Points Memo that she had all sorts of investigative dirt available on current GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich. Specifically, “I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.” So… Newt Gingrich responded today by thanking Pelosi for the early Christmas present and noting “…if she’s suggesting she’s going to use material that she developed while she was on the ethics committee, that is a fundamental violation of the rules of the House and I would hope that members would immediately file charges against her the second she does it.” Annnnnd now we’re being told (via Weasel Zippers) – it would be cruel* of me to use the word ‘frantically’ – that what the former Speaker of the House really meant by her comments to TPM was that there was plenty of public record information about Newt Gingrich available. Not that there was any private dirt. Nope. Not at all. Representative Pelosi then went on to reveal that the Red Sox had won the 2004 World Series and that Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been indicted on felony charges.

Wow, you know something the rest of us including the House Ethics Committee don't know?

Nah! Your just making stuff up like most Newt haters.

From Wikipedia--not exactly a bastion of Newt and Republican propaganda--but at least they, unlike you, get this right.
"Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000. Gingrich acknowledged in January 1997 that "In my name and over my signature, inaccurate, incomplete and unreliable statements were given to the committee". The House Ethics Committee concluded that inaccurate information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or ... reckless" disregard of House rules.

Special Counsel James M. Cole concluded that Gingrich violated federal tax law and had lied to the ethics panel in an effort to force the committee to dismiss the complaint against him. The full committee panel did not agree whether tax law had been violated and left that issue up to the IRS. In 1999, the IRS cleared the organizations connected with the "Renewing American Civilization" courses under investigation for possible tax violations."
All of the ethics charges were dropped and what they finally charged him with is that he filed false statements in response to those charges in at least one case. That's it. He wasn't censured, wasn't found in violation of any ethics rules, and agreed to pay the House the $300,000 to compensate for the expenses incurred by the inaccurate information he provided.

This is amazing. It didn’t even occur to her that revealing this information would be prohibited by House rules, let alone, unethical on its face. Yet she sits on the House Ethics Committee. Unbelievable! Newt should call for a House ethics investigation of Pelosi to determine how much confidential information she has improperly (illegally?) disseminated since she has been on the committee.

Nancy does kind of serve a purpose during the Winter months.

If she says something that sounds right, it's time to check the batteries in your CO detectors.

The community college I work for sent out a paper to inform us of words we can no longer use...politically correct...

Whatever. I'll bet those "politically correct" speakers feel free to use the most vile filthy invectives with impunity.

Typical RATs.

Pelosi, the 60th speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, has added more to the national debt than the first 57 House speakers combined.

At the close of business on Jan. 4, 2007, Pelosi’s first day as speaker, the national debt was $8,670,596,242,973.04 (8.67 trillion), according to the Bureau of the Public Debt, a division of the U.S. Treasury Department. At the close of business on Oct. 22, it stood at $13,667,983,325,978.31 (13.67 trillion), an increase of 4,997,387,083,005.27 (or approximately $5 trillion).

The $4.997-trillion increase in the national debt since she took the gavel is more debt than the federal government amassed from the speakership of Rep. Frederick Muhlenberg\ of Pennsylvania, who became the first speaker of the House on April 1, 1789, to the start of the speakership of Rep. Newt Gingrich of Georgia, the 58th speaker, who took up the gavel on Jan. 4, 1995.

Under Pelosi’s watch the national debt skyrocketed.

Under Pelosi’s watch Congress adjourned without passing a budget for the first time since 1974.

Under Pelosi’s watch the number of women in congress was reduced to numbers reminiscent of the 1970s.

Under Pelosi’s watch the democRAT party was handed its biggest losses in generations.

By any reasonable or measurable standard, Nancy Pelosi, as a leader, was a colossal failure.

She was great at one thing though, creating jobs for Republican lawmakers.

Someone told her (Newt I think) that if she discloses some of that information, which is confidential, she could be subject to severe, possibly criminal, penalties.

.”.......Somewhere in Chicago the call went out to get a large dog muzzle and chain with Nancy P engraved on them.”

What Pelosi is doing with that comment is arming her partners the press...who will be taking the Information and hounding Newt with endless questions that have already been answwered many times over. Their work for Bambi will be to stain Newt with the questions over and over until what the uninformed voter will know about Newt is formed by the questions.....

this from a poster on The Hill

I thought this one was good too...

Not one of the establishment defends Newt against dirty tricks Nancy, yet it was he who paved their careers in 1994 with a blow out victory after FORTY YEARS of socialist control!!!!

I don't quite know what you are excited about; we have more socialism now than we did back then.

Some have mentioned Pelosi making a threat to a past setting congressman is illegal and an act of treason. I don’t know about that, but at any rate she’s backing up.

...I liked this comment....”playing with TNT can be dangerous not only for the targets, but also for the attackers.”

I don’t think she understands Newt is not one to mess with....or she just doesn’t give a crap since she’s simply the mouthpiece for all the democrats who use her to be their mouth piece.... She makes Lewinsky look snow white.

Excellent post South 40. Great reminder of the difference between Pelosi and Newt. Heard her say the democrats will take back the senate in 2012...we are in a battle to ensure they don’t.

A victory after 40 years doesn’t really need to be explained. It wasn’t a cure but it was a sorely needed victory. I find that exciting still, and would like a repeat, and with the same guy that made that happen then would make it especially satisfying now.

Nazi Pelosi does not want to open that can of whoopazz on her nasty self.

She suddenly remembers that she’s not dealing with sweet lil Sarah’s handicapped baby. Newt has sliced her and diced her more than once. :)
