Media Caining Sends Chilling Message To Blacks
IBD Editorials ^ | December 5, 2011 | Editor

Election '12: Herman Cain's withdrawal concludes a media hit job that sends out two chilling warnings. To conservative businessmen: Don't dare run for high office. To black candidates: Don't stray off the liberal plantation.

There's no denying that Cain, who on Saturday succumbed to weeks of media-driven pressure and suspended his campaign, was an imperfect presidential candidate.

Beyond the series of far-from-proven allegations of sexual improprieties, his performance in answering foreign policy questions disappointed even his staunchest supporters.

Cain's demise illustrates the hazards of placing faith in an unvetted presidential hopeful who has never held public office.

But what if the suffering, thoroughly disgusted American public believes only a nonpolitician and private-sector leader can rein in Washington, D.C.?

The voters have put plenty of imperfect men in the presidency. We might well today pose the same question that one Gov. Bill Clinton asked regarding his own sexual improprieties during a January 1992 interview on "60 Minutes," his wife by his side:

"Are we going to take the ... position now that if people have problems in their marriage, and there are things in their past which they don't want to discuss which are painful to them, that they can't run?"

Our current secretary of state hastily added: "It's real dangerous in this country if we don't have some zone of privacy for everybody."

I would love to hear Mr. Cain say the following:

My fellow black Americans. So you think that the lynchings of “uppity blacks” has stopped under the Obama regime? Well it hasn’t, because the Obama Democrats just lynched me, a successful, conservative, uppity black. And you didn’t say a thing.

Remember, you could be next!

Herman Cain aka The Godfather, I approve this message

Here’s the *useful* message this episode sent: “If you want to masquerade as a Christian conservative candidate, it’s unhelpful to your credibility to have a closetful of trophy women including one you keep on financial life support without the knowledge of your wife”.

Sorry, Herman Cain is NOT a victim. The ‘rats and the media attempt this with nearly EVERY (R) candidate. (Remember McCain last year and Perry this year?) For the ones who keep Junior at home behind his zipper, the tactic fails. Cain got *caught* in his *own* zipper!

Good riddance. He would have been a disaster had he gotten the nomination.

The Federal Plantation won't get shut down until some of us are dead.

And I'm ok with that. As long as it gets shut down.

Cain got a bad rap on foreign policy. Frankly, he’s a lot better on it than Hillary Clinton, who is our Secretary of State.

That famous long pause, when asked about Libya, was the result of several factors. First, it was a video of an interview with some NEWSPAPER reporters, not a TV interview. So he was not acting for the camera. Second, it was a question out of left field when he was talking about something else, and it was vaguely worded. So, he paused, started to answer, and then asked what the question intended.

Most importantly, Obama and Clinton supported the overthrow of Kaddafi by Muslim fundamentalists. Cain was a lot smarter, and questioned whether they really knew what they were doing. And he was one of the few Republicans who questioned it.

It always annoys me when a conservative commentator throws the liberals a bone like this. No, Cain is a hell of a lot better on foreign policy than either Obama or Clinton.

I think the message is, if you skeletons in your closet and you run for public office those skeletons will come out if you are a Republican.

To black candidates: Don't stray off the liberal plantation.

If you are a solidly Liberal Black your cocaine habit will be un mentioned, your questionable birth will be ignored, your consorting with avowed communist will be unexplored, your college records will be uninvestigated.

Yes as a Blackman if you want to seek higher office being a Liberal means never having a past worth mentioning. Being a conservative means if you don’t have a skeleton in the closet the press will invent one.

Unless you yourself had sex with Herman Cain then you have no prof that Herman Cain "got *caught* in his *own* zipper" as you said.

The man was accused but that's all. Anything more is only in the mind of the beholder.

I’m being generous when I say “trophies”.

Clintoon’s for the most part weren’t all that hot, either.

I continue to maintain that Cain, whatever his virtues may be, was a horn dog in the Clintoon mold. We’re lucky to have him behind us. Who knows how many more were lurking in the closet waiting to come out once he got the nomination? Who knows how many more he would have seduced — and gotten caught with — had he become President?

Been there, done that, suffered through the public humiliation of the office of President of the United States. Don’t want to do it again.

I was a Cain supporter and am quite angry that the establishment repub Newt is being jammed down our throats. I think I’ll support Backman until she implodes.

And somehow this “horndog” Herman Cain managed to horndog only the biggest losers in modern life? Not someone with even the stature of Monica Lewinsky?

I don’t buy it. I pin the blame on “horncats” who were chasing after Herman’s well-to-do pants. In the case where Herman donated some funds to a needy acquaintance, that was his own business and nothing naughty as long as it didn’t endanger his ability to keep up his family.

You don’t defeat the devil by selling your soul.

If fact,

That’s how you get owned.
