With just under 30 days until the first nominating contest in the country, the ad war in Iowa is officially heating up this week as four campaigns are pouring in cash and air time to try to boost their standing through television spots airing across the state.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who leads the Republican pack in the Hawkeye State, will release his first television ad Monday. Titled Is The America We Love A Thing Of the Past? Newt Says No, the minute-long ad will appear statewide on broadcast and cable with an ad buy of $250,000. It is unknown how long the TV spot will run. Gingrich currently sits atop the Republican field but has yet to promote himself via advertising this campaign cycle, relying instead on media coverage of his speeches and debates.

That Ad says Scrap the tax code and replace it with something simple and FAIR. That is NOT flat tax code words, that is FAIR TAX speak.
Excellent and beautifully done.
Surprisingly impressive, with Field of Dreams sounding music. Persoable soft sell is a good choice for Newt.
We can stand up to the high interest rates at Tiffany’s...be absolved of transfering non-profit contributions into personal money - have as many wives as we want - and secure the blessings of our political system for ourselves and any other skalliwags that come after.
I’m Newt Gingrich, RINO, and I approve this message.
P.S. - send me money.
Well, Cain = Thompson and Gingrich = McCain. But McCain surprised, much later than the first week of December.
Both McCain and Gingrich were presumed dead. But McCain was able to get a surprise victory in NH, over Romney, and things went well for him after that.
McCain really didn’t take any hits. Gingrich has a month to take the hits. He is likely to lose support in the next month, and his support is likely to scatter. I doubt he’ll lose 75% of his support, like Perry, Cain, Bachmann did, but he’ll be headed downward after losing a sigificant share of his vote on January 3.
I can tell you that we in Iowa take the vetting process very seriously and will be the ones to take the wind out of Romney’s sail. Also Iowa is truly a bellwether state where we have a good mix of the electorate and thus the media have learned over the last half century that the results in Iowa really do matter and how to judge them in the context of determining the greater outcome. This is why the media supports Iowa being first. They really would have no idea what a front runner in say New Jersey would mean or why.
There have been plenty of Newt ads on Google and YouTube. Mitts too there.
“I doubt hell lose 75% of his support, like Perry, Cain, Bachmann did, but hell be headed downward after losing a sigificant share of his vote on January 3.”
So we’re supposed to then be stuck with Paul and Romney?
Oh HELL no!
