And yet, you use the term “Perrybots” without considering that it’s part of the problem.

The attacks on this thread alone are toward “Perrybots,” much, much more than in the other direction.

I went back and listened to the Hucklebee forum with Rick Perry and he did say “Attorney Generals.” Still, he said it while thanking them for opposing Obama care.

Governor Perry. Retract your support for illegal in-state tuition and you might get some takers.

I am truly the only Washington Outsider left in the race.

But he's still a career politician. Fail.

Onyx, you mark this as "a lovely letter" and I agree. Jim Robinson has stated he could support Rick Perry, and Sarah Palin singles him out as "a constitutional conservative". Smoothsailing and others note the propensity of posters to shoot from the hip--and not read the article, in this case the letter, which I have posted below, followed by my response:

Dear Friends,

Today a friend who sacrificed much in the effort to lead our great country suspended his campaign. I want to wish Herman Cain, his wife Gloria, and the entire Cain Family the very best and God’s blessings as they move forward.

Herman Cain’s appeal was that of a Washington Outsider – someone not beholden to the entrenched Beltway interests, and who hasn’t spent his life cutting deals at the expense of conservative principles.

As the race goes forward, with the Iowa Caucuses 32 days away, I am truly the only Washington Outsider left in the race. I haven’t served a day in Washington – either in Congress or as part of an Administration – and I am not the hand-picked choice of the Washington Establishment. I am simply a conservative governor who has led based on my strong faith and conservative values, and will chart a conservative course for our country.

I came from humble beginnings. My parents were tenant farmers. For several years we lacked indoor plumbing while growing dryland cotton. Those humble roots taught me about hard work, the importance of family, and the vital role of faith in America. And the fact the son of tenant farmers could run for president tells me the American Dream is alive and well in this country today.

My plan to fix Washington is not to tinker around the margins, but to uproot and overhaul our three broken branches of government. I will work to create a part-time Congress where their pay is cut in half and their time in Washington is cut in half. I will advocate for ending lifetime appointments of federal judges so they cannot legislate from the bench the rest of their lives. And I will eliminate needless federal agencies while stopping the burdensome regulations killing jobs in America.

I believe America’s best days are ahead of us if we return to our constitutional roots. I believe this nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values. But you don’t have to go to church every Sunday to know something is wrong in America where gays can openly serve in the military but our children can’t pray in school. If we are truly going to change Washington, it will take a real outsider. I will be a president who is not afraid to step on some toes to give the American people the true change they desire after three years of damage done by the Obama Administration.

I ask for your support, and I ask for your help in making Washington less consequential in our lives.

Sincerely,

Rick Perry

Individuals on either side of our war in the Nineteenth Century may have used forthright language to make it personal, but the leaders Grant and Lee evinced the highest code.

I believe Rick Perry wants to do the things he says--and with me, now, it's all about beating the devil and saving the Republic.

I won't allow one or two policy issues to prevent my supporting him, in the necessary fight to stop both Romney and Obama, two faces of the same devil.

In supporting Goldwater back in the day a Democrat for Johnson told me I'd die unmourned in a rat-infested garret.

Though Goldwater lost in a landslide, Johnson bowed out of a second run in utter despair.

Goldwater's strongest supporter assumed the presidency and brought the hostages home.

On his last speech to us, he spoke of our shining city on a hill.

We shall not, we dare not fail.

Not you again. First of all I am for Bachmann. She didn’t cheat on her husband like you support. Is that why you are not supporting her? I am sick for wanting a conservative. You are sick for supporting a serial cheater and a wife who participated. You I am afraid are the sick one.

“Why persist in silly arguments like (latest spelling/grammatical mistake/trivia question missed)? It’s not very useful in settling issues like the economy, National security, or the sanctity of life.”

Former Cain supporter here; you're absolutely right and I felt your statement was worth repeating.

For the record: There was “mud slinging” on all sides. Every candidate has a few fanatical supporters who do more harm than good for their campaign. My perception was that where respect was shown it was usually reciprocated. When individuals were (or perceived they were) treated w/hostility they usually reacted in turn.

All candidates running have strengths and weaknesses; I am considering everyone except Romney, Paul and Huntsman.

katiedidit1 never misses an opportunity to sling hatred at Cain.

But Cain gets the last snicker at katietdidit1, as she is stuck with him if Cain endorses the Newtster.

hahahahaha!

Nor will I, but there will be plenty of people here on FR to tell you are now an obama supporter.

Then using their 'logic', those same people would have to say that in the unfortunate event Mitt Romney should get the nomination anyone who doesn't vote for him is an Obama supporter as well.

btw...it's already happened. I've been told if I don't vote for Gingrich or Perry or whatever pro-ILLEGAL alien RINO who gets the nomination I will ensure an Obama victory. I wasn't aware my one vote carried so much weight. Actually, it doesn't; it was a moronic statement.

You know what would have been impressive for Perry to do? To really go to bat for Cain when the MSM was going after him. That would have impressed a lot of Cain supporters if Perry had stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Cain against the MSM.
