This most recent love affair with Newt is baffling. . . .how can anyone even entertain the idea that he will be able to beat Obama? Smart, yes, but way too smarky and condescending for the average voter. Reminds me too much of Rove and Co. Old Guard will never work against our current administration. Good idea guy, but not presidential material in our current political climate.
All the love affairs here are a little baffling.
First we loved Sarah Palin (guilty here) and, to our complete surprise, she opted not to run.
I was saved from the Cain train because my governor had announced and I like him.
But then there was the Cain love affair. Some really fine people on here loved Cain and he let them down.
Then there is this unaccountable switch to Newt.
I like Newt. He’s glib, fun and full of ideas. But he is not consistent and he’s much better at running than he would be as governing.
I don’t know why conservatives are so quick to excuse his quixotic actions and semi-sordid past. I mean, I would because people can repent and change.
I don’t see the change.
But, of course, I’ll take him over Mitt and over Obama.
But not with love.
well said. Yes you have nailed his greatest weakness. However I have become more and more convinced he could prevail in spite of it in this election simply becomes Obama himself is snarky and condescending.
Yes, the American people, who are usually wrong, hate being “talked down to”. But they never seem to “get it.”
