I’m no fan of Perry’s but his association with Gore was in the 1988 Democratic Primary campaign.

By 2000 he had been the GOP Lt. Governor of Texas, for two years, under George W. Bush.

True.

It is distrubing to think that when democrat Perry saw President Reagan in action as the solid conservative leader he was and yet Perry did not follow Reagan’s lead right then and there and switch to join the GOP? No - instead Reagan’s presidency inpsired Perry to support Gore for president.
