Good deeds count for something- Newt carried a big load and led the Repub takeover (fueled perhaps by assault weapons ban) in ‘94.
He got a little goofy thereafter, but I give him credit. He can organize and articulate.
Reminds me a little of some of the Kings of Israel who did a lot of good things but didn’t tear down all the groves, etc.
