The gov appointed his wife to fill the position. Ashcroft being the gentleman he is...suspended campaign ads during the “mourning” over Mel Carnahan’s death. Bush won the election and appointed Ashcroft as Atty Gen.
I believe Newt will appoint Cain to a cabinet position or as Fed Reserve Chair...just my own humble opinion
