Thanks for your post, it is sane, measured, logical and very appropriate.
I admit to being disappointed with this turn of events, but until Herman Cain announces that his campaign is OVER and not just ‘suspended’, I will continue to support and stand with him. That isn’t being a zealot, that is doing the right and honorable thing. Herman Cain has been falsely accused. No evidence has ever been produced which actually proved a damn thing. Just a pack of lying whores enabled and encouraged by the lamestream media, ‘Rats, RINOs and other assorted dirtbags.
What has distressed me more than Herman Cain suspending his campaign, was to witness the blatantly racist comments which have been posted in this forum, comments that can only be interpreted as reflecting some sadly bigoted souls behind the applicable keyboards that have generated such crap.
Now you Ozy, coming from a Marine family will most likely know of the man I’m going to mention next, a man that I would like to see drafted at the convention as our nominee just as Eisenhower was drafted in ‘52, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Peter Pace, USMC. I know of no finer man, no more honorable man, than General Pace.
Unfortunately the good General has (up to this point) expressed little if any interest in running for elective office. I suspect he is simply too damn honest for it. But I would love to see a grass roots campaign begun in an effort to try and bring him into the race, be it write in, or whatever. But that’s just me. General Pace would very likely be attacked and savaged by the ‘UniParty’ of ‘Rats and RINOs and establishment statists, just as they went after Sarah Palin and Herman Cain.
Irregardless, thanks for your words, FRiend.
I only know General Pace by reputation as he was still at the Naval Academy when my father retired (1965). Last future USMC flag officer I had any personal contact w/was General Joe Hoar; who replaced GEN Schwarzkopf as CENTCOM Commander and did many of the daily press briefings for Desert Storm. He was a Captain serving under my Dad when he was CO Marine Barracks, NWS Yorktown, VA. I was a junior in high school at that time; so, I doubt that he would remember me.
At any rate General Pace was a stellar Marine ...Bronze Star and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Ribbon; both w/Combat “V” device; first Marine flag officer to serve as Chairman Joint Chiefs. Looks like he had some run ins w/Rumsfeld and Gates chose to not renominate him under the second George W. Bush administration ...the latter is from Wikipedia; so, can't vouch for the accuracy of that detail.
Apparently he was approached to run for John Warner's Senate seat here in VA; but, for whatever reason that didn't happen. His statements about homosexual activity being “immoral” also drew some “fire” from Romney ...which is one more reason not to vote for Mitt.
Looks like Pace is heading up Pelikan for Behrman now from what I could glean. If he's like my father he probably is too damned honest to want to sully his reputation w/politics.
As to the racist comments; that was disappointing; but, I think a lot of it was generated by trolls ...one yo-yo posted some racist remarks so I snarkily suggested he must be channelling George Lincoln Rockwell ...swoosh; went so far over his head he never even felt the “shock wave” or knew he'd been insulted.
So, back to you ...what's your list look like as far as backup plans for candidate?
Thx for the comments!
FReegards,

Gen. Pace was a classmate and I concur with your positive comments about him, but he isn’t a sleazy politician that would be necessary in this climate to get elected. He took an honorable exit as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and likely cannot ever be induced to wade back into the Washington cesspool...
