Here's Hoping Herman Cain Will Stay In the Race
FOXNEWS.com ^ | December 2, 2011 | Dr. Alveda King

Posted on 12/03/2011 6:16:49 AM PST by NautiNurse

In the 15th Century, “Lady Justice” was introduced wearing a blindfold. Her sightlessness was meant to represent objectivity, in that justice is or should be meted out without fear or favor, regardless of identity, money, power or weakness. Blind justice and impartiality should be the goal.

[snip]

Suddenly, while Mr. Cain is soaring at the top of the polls, proposing to scrap our three million word tax code for a simpler, fairer, pro-growth 9-9-9 plan (getting rid of the tax code would arguably be the largest transfer of power from the government to the people since the U.S. Constitution was ratified. No wonder the establishment resists such an agent of change) he is besieged by the media, suffering “death of a thousand cuts,” as described by Cain Senior Adviser, Niger Innis.

For six unrelenting weeks, Mr. Cain has been the target of attacks on his character. His accusers have yet to prove anything, yet the man has been judged guilty in the court of public opinion without even a semblance of a fair trial.

[snip]

We the people must demand a more just political process. If someone is going to talk about another person’s character, they must have irrefutable proof and not just their word. The people should demand this and so should the media. A political campaign should address the many troubling issues facing the nation and not have to waste its resources defending meaningless allegations.

We must demand that the media reports on the issues, and let us see the platforms of the candidates. In the face of these attacks, on Mr. Cain and other presidential hopefuls, I’m inclined to find that Tabloid Justice is indeed blind, but far from objective.

how about someone getting the IRS to investigate her and her bank account. I expect this woman never reported any financial "gifts" as income. And I am sure the money given to here were not considered "loans." Wonder how much money she has begged for and received for which she never paid taxes? This is a woman who should be investigated and made to "spread the wealth" and pay her fair share

Picture this. "Thank you for coming to this pre audit Ms. White. I can tell you that you are in serious trouble with your taxes and may be facing several years in a federal prison unless you can come up with several million dollars.... I would like to offer you a solution however, If you will go on television and read this script I can make ALL of your troubles disappear. You see. you really have no choice here. Either you smear Mr. Cain or you go to prison and we sell your 5 year old daughter to a certain businessman in Thailand...."

” Could it be because the amount would seem miniscule by Cain’s wealthy standards? Hmmmm......”

Sorry, that makes no sense at all. If it was only a small amount it would benefit Cain to disclose it. He said his Attorney told to him NOT to answer. Total logic fail on that one.

I give lots of money to lots of charities and or people that I know and don’t know, without telling my spouse. Over 40 years I’m sure it would add up to a considerable amount. There is nothing nefarious about it.

Matthew 6

1 Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

2 When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

Any administration that would “walk” weapons to drug lords in an attempt to take down the 2nd amendment is capable of anything.

He is a Baptist preacher you ever think that maybe the money he gave was not his but the Lords(TITHES).
Not saying it is or it isn’t. Question then if it is the Lords money what does he supposed to do with it?

Deu 15:19
And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

So then what is a Levite.

Numbers 18:6
And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

So then it this was the Lords money he is doing Exactly what he supposed to do. Help the needy and its between him and the Lord NOT him and his wife.

...I know, he’s assembled a very flawed team that includes a number of folks who themselves don’t understand what Cain is all about - and the notion of going into a “holding pattern” of 72 hours while you re-assess is just death by amateurism. (If you re-assess, do so in private while publicly you are full speed ahead!). BUT, he’s a good man and a great story, and I HATE HATE HATE that anyone can be sidetracked by what is obviously a manipulated smear campaign.

On one level I agree with you on not publicly re-assessing, but just think what would happen if he did it that way and got out.

Right here on this forum there would be people who would accuse him of keeping up a pretense just to get more contributions when he 'knew all the time he was getting out'.

Also, he's shooting straight and open with us which is one of the things we like about him. He's not a skank politician playing angles.

We need to find a way to dismantle the filthy and dishonest personal destruction corp and I hope he stays in and leads the way!

Agreed. I don’t know if he’s guilty of any of the allegations, but at this point needs to stay in the race. It’s either damaged him, or it hasn’t, and the only real test is going to be counted in votes.

And true believers will concoct any scenario to keep the illusion going. It’s already been explained, White has no tax issues whatsoever in anything Cain gifted to her. If it was more that $13,000 in a year, it was Cain’s responsibility to report it to the IRS.

I think you're making something out of very little (given what we know right now).

Cain is a wealthy man AND a minister. That's a double whammy for being hit up for money by everybody with a hard luck story.

Last night a FReeper was explaining that, as a minister's wife, she has no idea who her husband is helping from day to day. He exercises the best judgment he can, but sometimes they turn out to be grifters or worse.

I've been tagged myself by con men a couple of times. And a con man will tell any lie if he thinks there's money in it. A con woman might think along the same lines. And really, what can you say? "She's lying" is about it.

But as a purely practical matter, whoever your candidate is, do you think he or she is immune to this sort of low-class attack? And if it takes down Cain they will redouble their efforts to take down YOUR man. It may not be sex (that's a no-brainer here because it ties into Democrat fantasies) but it will be rumor and innuendo and it will be impossible to satisfy the standard YOU have set.

If his attorney is planning on filing a suit, he would advise his client not to respond. Cain has said that he is gonna clear his name regardless of his choice. That to me means lawsuit.

BTW, why do you capitalize attorney? Heck, I won’t even shake hands with them.

You have decided that you have enough information to condemn Herman Cain and that he should quit the campaign before a single vote is cast.

I don't have enough information to toss Cain under the bus as you have. I have seen outright lies published by the liberal MSM about Mr. Cain and a host of other conservatives, where the headlines are absolutely false. Stories are not reported. They are editorialized with bias against conservatives.

With the MSM orchestrating the Cain smear campaign like a fine tuned symphony, I'll wait until I have more trustworthy information than is currently available. I say he should remain on the ballot. Let the people speak with our votes.

He should have refused outright to talk about it, and said his lawyers would aggressively pursue the accusers in civil court.

That's presuming that not only is he innocent of any of the allegations, but that he can prove it. The truth is an affirmative defense against both libel and slander, so he'd have to have a lot of ducks in a row before going into civil court. I don't believe that any of us know for sure if he's guilty or not.

Also this:

Ezekiel 16
48 As I live, saith the Lord YHWH, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and careless ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Uh, yes, I see it is VERY problematic that he did not tell his wife about giving money to another woman. Omission is the most powerful form of lie, to quote Orwell. Your opinion may vary as to the significance of Cain's admission, and it apparently does. But this is Cain's own admission, it is not inneundo like the past attacks. And if he can hide something like this from his own wife, what can he hide from the voters? It opens up a big ol' can of worms AFAIC.

The recipient of a gift has no responsibility to report the gift ...

However, if the woman is receiving ANY form of assistance from the government,(as I suspect she must if she is in such financial need) then she must report any and all gifts as income. Even gifts of clothing, presents at holiays, etc. Many don't...but the requirements for this are there, just not always enforced. In this woman's case, they should investigate and if she has any government assistance, she is in violation...should be fined, and the IRS should go to work on her.

That's correct...but he doesn't stop talking...and if he remains in this race I have no reason to believe his pattern will change...he doesn't know how to get out of the rut of loose lips and for that digs himself in deeper.

>> To paraphrase Clarence Thomas, Cain gave them the hammer to hit him with at this point. This all could have been dealt with before he entered the race. >>

You are absolutely right about that, but the other ‘hammers” were all made up accusations as part of a smear campaign - and at this point - the ginger whatshername story is all the bigger because it is hitting him at a time when he is staggered from the other false claims.

That’s what is irritating to me. But on your particular point, you have no argument from me.
