***Today’s musical people? Lady Gaga? Justin Beiber? Their half life is measured in months. *****

Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s i noticed that the average time on the cover of a teen magazine was three months. Then you were gone.

And I never could figure out why teen girls liked teen boys who looked like girls.

Skinny boys with delicate features, androgynous to varying degrees, are non-threatening to girls who aren't ready for big hairy guys. It's not a new or an isolated phenomenon -- before Bieber and the Jonas brothers, there were the boy bands of the '90s; before that, Prince and Duran Duran; before that, Sean Cassidy and Leif Garrett; before that, the Beatles (in contrast to those sweaty brutes Mick and Keef); before that, there was that skinny little kid from Jersey who sang with the Dorseys, Frankie somethingorother.
