The kid reminds me of a young Ross Perot, or maybe even Ron Paul.

He grew up to be a Robin WIlliams double.

I saw a video on TV that was supposed to be an “outtake” of that whole scene. It was not one of the regular movie cameras but an extra. this is what it was. the actors were on break and the kid started playing the banjo, one of the players of the movie picked up his guitar and that is where the whole thing started. The other actors around heard the music and came over to watch. They all thought it was so good (it was not in the script, supposedly) that they put it in the movie. Now if what you guys are saying, this whole televised outtake was a giant hoax. that is hard for me to believe as I saw the whole scene with my own eyes. Can’t remember what channel or show I saw this on though.

You dreamt it because that never happened. The actor himself said it never happened.

The music was dubbed in (of course) and the banjo playing was actually performed by Eric Weissberg. The kid whose hands were filmed doing the fretwork and picking is lost to history I suppose.

Deliverance really surprised me when I finally got around to watching it. It was a much deeper film than I was expecting. I sort of had it in my mind it was going to be a basic summer action flick or something. I was way off on that count, obviously. The ending scene in that movie gives me chills to this day.

And I agree, Burt did some of his very best acting in Deliverance!

I sometimes wonder if Ned Beatty took a hit to his career because of his (in)famous scene in Deliverance. Beatty is a great actor - his cameo at the end of Network was Oscar-worthy - but I think he’ll always be primarily remembered for That Scene.

He was the voice of "Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear" in Pixar's Toy Story 3.

I know what I saw, not saying that whole thing I saw was not a hoax but it did happen and I saw it on national television. Where are you getting your info??? is your source full proof? Post something here or to me in private where I can verify what you are saying and see what makes your story any more believable than mine. Aloha

Spent last week in Townsend TN. Lots of real nice folks there and everyone I met had all their teeth. Stereotypes for the area seem undeserved.

...and I, on the other hand, have lived in Jersey and Pennsylvania all my life, and have lost two thirds of my teeth to periodontal disease...
