Read up on the Lamberth Decision or what is going on at Annapolis with regards to affimative action. It has been going on forever, especially as regards promotions to higher ranks and selections for command. There are many white colonels passed over because there will be a minimum number of the right groups selected at 0-7 and above. Of course, it is worse for females who are held to lower standards from the time they take their first PT test, but that’s another story.

You’re off several administrations. Her Thighness made diversity in the US Navy a big deal in the 90’s, particularly more women, even on ships. This quieted a bit after the big rash of pregnancies, women needing to leave their assignments due to pregnancy, etc. I think Her Thighness even wanted females on the front lines of fighting. Fighter pilots, e.g., Demi Moore, etc.
