I look at it this way. Currently, by their calendar, it’s the year 1433.

Where was European culture in 1433 A.D.? Not too terribly “enlightened”, I’d hazard to say.

So, only another 600 years, and they’ll be up to snuff. Still 600 years behind the times, but tolerable.

Seriously, the entire Islamic world really needs an Age of Enlightenment, a Renaissance, and an Age of Reason. If I were running the ME, I’d be endlessly promoting the relative handful of folks currently espsousing such ideas, and telling the more fanatical traditionalists (Salafists, Qutubists, etc.)to STFU. That’s how I’d be spending my oil revenues if I were King.

I think in response to your question, did not the “Renaissance” had gotten started in what is now “Italy” by that time though? I was told it began in 1350.
