You expressed beautifully exactly how I feel. I know Newt is far from perfect - in fact vastly flawed, but I really believe he is the right man for this time. I believe he will rise to the occasion. He is the man. And his confidence doesn’t put me off one bit. We need someone self-assured, and someone who will take on the enemies (both within and without) of our great country.
Perry might have made a good President, at another time. But we are too soon after George Bush...and as you said, we don’t want or need another President who’s prone to embaress himself and us who would support him.
Newt Gingrich has a history of going off the rails and embarrassing himself and those around him.
Don’t create a conservative caricature of Newt and sell it as truth.
I’m totally a Perry supporter, but I am very thankful that we have Newt as a possibility if Perry can’t make it. I absolutely haven’t ruled Perry out as he has the money and the organization and the will to trudge on.
If the electorate somehow gets disillusioned with Newt, as they have with every other front runner, Perry will still be standing.
That being said, I like Newt. He’s saying all the right things now. He is glib, fast-talking and won’t be bullied by either the press or Obama.
My main problem is a worry about how steadfast he is. He’s got that ADD thing going and he could very well fly off in a tangent and not keep his priorities straight.
However, he will be so much better than what we have now and better than the other contenders (except for Rick Perry)
