The idiots never figure it out. Anyplace with a long tradition of capitalism never holds to communism for long.
Look at Vietnam. After all the blood that was shed they have a communist government but economic communism was an utter failure so they saved face by going to something called socialist oriented market economy which is capitalism with a communist friendly name. They encourage private ownership of all but a few strategic industries.
The only thing “communist” about China and Vietnam is the way they use the name to justify their authoritarian governments.
