Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has surged to the largest national lead held by any candidate so far in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters finds Gingrich on top with 38% of the vote. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is a distant second at 17%. No other candidate reaches double-digits.

The national survey of 1,000 Likely Republican Primary Voters was conducted on November 30, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Yes, and he wants you to pay to read the internals and the test for negatives.

Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Paul, Huntsman, and Santorum need all to drop out. With Gingrich leading in Iowa, South Carolina, and Florida and within the MOE in New Hampshire, this race is over.

I agree. I've been a supporter of Cain, but he simply flamed out, and not only because of the Gang of Six accusations. There may be room for Herman in an administration, but folks have decided his place isn't the Oval Office. I don't have to like it... but it's reality, and if Newt is going to be the guy, well, so be it.

And the richest part of all this... it's looking like the oh-so-smooth ride for Romney to the nomination has washed out.

In 2007, Gingrich released the book A Contract with the Earth, co-written with Terry Maple. In the book, Gingrich presented his policies for a market-based approach to environmentalism that incentivizes conservation and green technology, rather than relying on regulations or litigation.[49] In particular, Gingrich has proposed using monetary prizes and tax incentives to spur environmentally friendly innovations, such as hydrogen engines, 100-mile-per-gallon conventional fuel engines and ethanol fuels that do not rely on corn or cane sugar.[47]

Gingrich has expressed skepticism in interviews that mankind is significantly altering the climate, yet supports curbing carbon emissions as an act of prudence. Like many of his environmental positions, he believes this is best accomplished through market-incentives, rather than taxes or cap-and-trade plans. He has opposed the Kyoto Protocol, stating that the protocols unfairly favor Europe, China and India to the disadvantage of the U.S.[47]

If we nominate Newt, we still will not have nominated a conservative since Reagan. I stand amazed at how he has managed to whitewash so much of his past and his actual record. I still wonder if a man sleeping around while impeaching a sitting president for sleeping around (in the public eye) can truly win.

Gingrich opposes the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA). Through his organization, American Solutions for Winning the Future, Gingrich organized an online petition that secured over 100,000 signatures to support its repeal in the United States House of Representatives.[54]

Yep, Mitt is livid. See the “Mad Mitt” article in the forum.

I think all the drop-outs will have at least half go to Gingrich. There is no other candidate around whom they can coalesce.

Gingrich has argued the first priority for immigration reform is tighter border control. He has pushed for Congress to pass a narrowly written emergency border bill to finish the border fence between the United States and Mexico in less than a year and have complete border control within two years.[107] In addition to greater border control, Gingrich has advocated for measures to discourage the hiring and harboring of illegal immigrants, such as shifting Internal Revenue Service resources to audit companies that employ illegal immigrants and cutting off federal aid to cities, counties or states that refuse to enforce immigration laws. He has frequently argued for using credit card companies to develop identification cards and a real-time system to verify citizenship.[107]

We need an old pro at the helm and it shows.

An old pro who actually has all his wits about him, unlike that bumbling, drooling old fart McLame.

0bama wasn't counting on this... I'm thinking he's fearing the growing prospect of having to debate Gingrich. Newt will leave Obama curled up in the fetal position blowing snotbubbles.

[Newt supports traditional marriage, he’s proved three times!]

How many here on this forum have never been divorced? Probably about 60% or more. It just proves that people pick their lives back up and better themselves.

Or are one to the chosen, righteous, perfect few?

Not that it is a “whole lot” better, but Newt did divorce his ex wives and then marry the mistresses. He hasn’t been accused of rape that I know of, or sodomy by cigar.

Grades of depravity, I know. This is what it has come to unfortunately.

Clinton was NOT impeached by Newt for sleeping around. He was impeached because he lied to Congress under oath.

Any other ignorant misconceptions I can clear up for you?

Truly the Newt-bot squad has some serious mental issues.

Yes, they do. They tend to live in a state called REALITY. A place where everything is not perfect, but you make the best of it. A place where people and things are weighed in whole, as opposed to declaring everything as either "goody-good-good-perfect!" or "Satanically-bad-evil". A place where people can admit when they are wrong instead of sticking their fingers in their ears, closing their eyes, and chanting la-la-la to themselves.

Then you have those that live in the other state, called DENIAL. How's the weather there today?

That was the meaning of the words “In the public perception” that I included in my post. It is the meme I am already starting to hear on the “moderate” morning radio show and in work conversations.

Newt has never hidden or denied his past. He has also acknowledged his mistakes, unlike most politicians. Romney STILL defends Romney Care even while it bankrupts the MA government. I have liked many of Newt's ideas and hated some of them, the idea is he actually has ideas. lots of them.
