“As for Cain, if he were truly innocent of these accusations, I believe he would react differently. I.e. he would be more genuinely angry and vehement. My BS-detector goes off when I hear his denials — his responses just strike me as unsteady and evasive.”
He already stated that the accusations are ridiculous.
What more do you want him to do?
Are you trying to say he must ‘prove’ the accusations aren’t true?
Funny, I always thought the ‘accuser’ was the one that had to prove the accusation ‘ARE’ true.
And,BTW, Ms.White has already stated that it was a ‘casual’ relationship. Even when pressed if there was any ‘sex’ involved, she didn’t respond and repeated the ‘casual relationship’ mantra.
There isn’t a Prosecutor anywhere that would even attempt to bring a charge against someone without ‘proof’.
He’d be laughed out of the court room.
And this ‘woman’ should be laughed at as well.
The best thing Cain could do at this point is to shut up and let the woman’s past and words hang herself.
She seems to be doing a good job of it.
That's ok, we're all entitled to our own opinions of Cain's explanations. I liked Cain, a lot, but I find his reaction to the accusations very unconvincing. This is just my honest gut reaction.
And since FR is not a court of law, and we are not sworn jurors, we do not have to wait for a "proof" before we're allowed to form an opinion.
I for one do not want to see yet another unfaithful man in the White House. That doesn't make me "holier-than-thou," it just means I take traditional morals seriously, and don't like to see our leaders make a mockery of marriage.
For this reason I am skeptical of Gingrich too. My preferred candidate is Rick Santorum, but sadly it doesn't look like he will be the nominee.
