New claims for unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly last week, popping above 400,000 for the first time in just over a month and reinforcing the view that the battered labor market was healing only slowly.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits climbed to a seasonally adjusted 402,000 from an upwardly revised 396,000 in the prior week, the Labor Department said on Thursday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims at 390,000.

Initial claims below the 400,000 mark are normally seen as pointing to some healing in the jobs market.Just keep raising the mark. It was 300K under Bush but it has crept up to 400K under BO.

Unexpectedly, just like the GDP numbers were “unexpectedly” revised downward last week. One thing we all know about this “trainwreck” of an administration is that nothing happens unexpedtedly.
It’s all part of their vision to bring the greatest country in the world to its knees.

I wonder if the writer woke up “Unexpectedly” this AM.
Maybe “Unexpectedly” had breakfast?
I’m sure when they announced the news there was an
unexpected bowel movement somewhere

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits climbed to a seasonally adjusted 402,000 from an upwardly revised 396,000 in the prior week, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Ben Franklin wasn't entirely correct when he said "The only two certainties in life are death and taxes."
There is now a third certainty in life: The Labor Department will always upwardly revise the prior week's jobless claims figure.

we'll they're gunna gloat now...per ADP 206k+ jobs in november ( most in serve\retail...temp help probably )
however....from Forbes...
how could two firms measuring employment come to such disparate figures? The difference between ADPs call of 206,000 and TrimTabs 64,000 is a staggering 142,000. For some context, the Bureau of Labor statistics said the U.S. economy added only 80,000 jobs in October.
