New Yorkers tend to be drones. They live to work (or not work) and work (or not work) to live. They’re hemmed in on all sides by traffic and population and still think they live in the coolest place ever. They think their drone mentality keps them sane. In fact, being a drone probably qualifies most all New Yorkers for SSDI.
Just visit Time Square some time. Only the tourists are friendly and actually smile from time to time. The locals are either hucksters or grouches.
Your theory is somewhat limited. You rarely see REAL New Yorkers in Times Square unless they’re there to see a show at a nearby theater. Times Square is virtually ALL tourists and hucksters who prey on tourists. REAL New Yorkers tend to be found in the gazillion neighborhoods spread around the city’s five boroughs and, other than their politics, tend to be quite normal people.
Sheesh! Who’s the real grouch?
On a different note, my husband had no trouble getting home last night from mid-town on the east side. Maybe some people just stayed out of Manhattan last night.
Walk around Central Park and see if you ever hear English spoken.
That's because they think they're at Disney World.
