My mother's side of the family was Jewish but some time in the early 20th century they converted to Catholicism. I've often considered switching back. May still do it.

If you had a matrilineal descent from known Jews, you could walk in the door of any synagogue, from Reform to Orthodox, and they’d welcome you as a yiddishe kopf, considering your status immutable. (The Orthodox might want to see some documentation or testimony.)

But Now For A Word From My Sponsor, the Roman Catholic guys aren’t the only church on the block. Evangelicals stick close to the bible. And IMHO, it makes sense to follow any religious faith only because you have become convinced it’s true, or at least has enough truth to make it worthwhile. It sounds logical enough to me to put the question to God directly in prayer, if you wonder where He is on the matter.
