West Chester, Ohio (CNN) -- A defiant Herman Cain tried to turn the tables on his growing legion of critics and accusers Wedneday, blasting them for allegedly engaging in gutter politics and giving no indication of any immediate intent to abandon his embattled presidential campaign.
"They have been trying to do a character assassination on me," Cain told an enthusiastic crowd in Ohio. "They are attacking my character, my reputation and my name in order to try and bring me down."
"I don't believe that America is going to let that happen," he declared.

I’m confused. I thought Herman decided he was going continue his run.
It wasn’t his critics that gave her his private cell phone number and called and texted her at various times including 5 am. If he was sleeping with her, own it and move on.
Geez, even Gary Hart came up with a better defense than that.
The other GOP hopefuls better take note.
This is what the Dem machine/LSM combined special ops have in store for each of them.
In the same that this fall’s OWS operations are a dress rehearsal for next year’s “Summer of Fun!”, taking Cain out by any means necessary, is a shot across the others’ bows.
Still waiting for definitive proof from this latest accuser, as well as numbers 1,2 and 3. Are there more? I have lost count. Where’s Gloria Allred when you really need her?

Herman, the question isn't whether or not America is going to let them bring you down. The question is "what are YOU going to do about it?"
If you can't handle unexpected challenges during the campaign (yes, even dirty ones), how are you going to handle them once you are in the Oval Office?

I could care less about his sex life, but he is NEVER going to get ANYWHERE much less become the nominee unless he takes drastic DRASTIC action.
He is letting Axelrod and these women run him over like a steamroller and his whole defense has been “deny deny deny deny”.

Denying is like agreeing to the public. That is not what they want to see. This is political poker, show your hand Mr. Cain. If it was me and I was innocent I would sue the living shiet out of these women for slander, get them ON the stand and get right in their face. Why isn’t THAT happening?
Put it this way: If someone accused him of child rape would he just “deny deny deny”?? HELL NO!
Until he goes steel to balls he will never recover. And also consider: Why wouldn’t he take advantage? If they are lying, that would be a tremendous political advantage if they were proven to be full of shiet.
Sorry, but until Cain confronts, his campaign is DOA.

Yep, that’s right Herman. The Libs know that it is easier to hear than to think. The GULLIBLE will be the first to withdraw their support.
We are taught to believe that one is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. But it is much easier just to believe what a talking head says on TV.
Chin up Herman, because the mudslinging has just begun. Embrace it and enjoy it, because in 2013 you, as President Cain, can invite all those gullible talking heads on TV to a Rose Garden TEA Party.
I believe you said it all. Proof from these awful gold diggers needs to be demanded on the way to suing their socks off. Denials are a bore without a counter assault that should be nuclear.
White has offered no actual proof, but we know that she’s been convicted of libel and that she is currently being evicted (again) from her apartment. She’s declared bankruptcy and she’s been taken to Court for spamming txt messages to a person. Her long-time business partner, when asked about White’s 13-year relationship with Cain, responded with, “What?”.
The latest txt message White had came at 7:50pm. That ain’t late at my house.
If some freepers want to blindly believe someone like that then I don’t have much left to say.
I’ve noticed that CNN seems to be obsessed with attacking Cain, way more than MSNBC, which smears all Republicans. CNN devoted most of their programming to bashing Cain, for some reason. I wonder what’s up with that.
Sweep away all the unknowns and you have Cain himself saying he thought the woman was his friend, until she made this accusation, and that he was communicating with her from time to time because he was trying to help her financially.
And where did I see this...that his wife did not know this woman or know about her.
But he whines that his character has been assassinated? After the original stories on harassment that might be understandable, but not in this case.
What he has admitted does not look good.
But you won’t hear Rush admit even what Cain admitted. All Rush did was impugn the woman. That’s easy to do, obviously, but it doesn’t answer what Cain admits.
So denial is enough satisfaction for you? That’s it?
The point is Herb should retaliate and go NUCLEAR and sue the socks off these gals, and not just stand there looking depressed and seen wearing a tie well. Where is the retaliation? Where is the explosion? Is this all he would give our enemies?
You are not curious even a little that he does essentially NOTHING? Doing NOTHING is not much of a resume maker.

Yes it will. When Americans hear negative news reports about something every hour, on the hour, for days and days and days, the middle of America will absorb that negativity and apply it to that thing.
Until conservatives smash the AP and the wire services who feed our local radio and paper and TV outlets, and out internet news feeds, conservatism is doomed.
The local news directors — and our neighbors — whose local radio and TV and paper outlets carry the wire services must be called out by name, ridiculed, shamed, and humiliated.

What say you about what Cain himself claims about this situation?
He was fine with whatever their relationship was, and fine with whatever her character was, he only got mad at her when she went public saying they were having an affair.

Come on, Herman. This is getting old. You can’t keep blaming people. I remember how the Perry campaign was rocked when you and yours said they were responsible for dishing dirt on the women who had filed sexual harrassment claims a decade ago. Perry didn’t file the claims a decade ago. Women did. A decade ago. Your supporters said, “Well, you know women. They’re all out to get something. The sluts.” Then it was the Romney folks. And Bachman and Santorum. Then it was the “slutty” women themselves. And it was Karl Rove. Then it was the mayor of Chicago out to get you. And yesterday it’s another “slutty” woman. Now critics. All the while Gingich is talking about faith and the Pope. In the meantime, my candidate forgot that 18 year olds can vote now. AND he said “caucus.” GASP!!!!!!!

We don’t know if he was texting her or SHE was texting him. After all her former business partner sued for a restraining order against sighting stalking via text and email. This woman is nuts. No one who has been around her in recent years ever heard her mention Herman cain. She is tied to the dimms and is in need of money. She has been accused of libel (and she lost). I just don’t trusat that the media is doing anything but trying to get Mr Cain
