Not bad, milder than moose or elk.
Barack Hussein Obama mmmm mmmm mmmm
I tried horsemeat in Switzerland. Maybe a little tougher that you would expect, but meat is meat. I seriously doubt whether you’d be able to guess what it was in a blind test.
Curious, especially considering the source is a horse’s ass.....
Halal horse?
Absolutely. What an idiotic article.
The author seems to assume that the alternative to consumption of horse meat is that the unwanted horses will live a long, well-cared for carefree life.
They won’t, of course. Maintaining a horse is expensive, and people will abandon it when they can’t afford to care for it any more. Often means, as you say, that the horse starves to death and then winds up in the landfill.
How this is preferable to humane slaughter and human consumption is beyond me.
The last horse slaughter plant was closed a few years ago due to animal right pressure. As always, this utopian idea caused another problem. Horses were just turned out when folks could no longer afford them due to vet bills or inability to feed them. That is not humane or sanitary. Like it or not there is a market for horse meat and it is a resource to use wisely.
I haven’t eaten horse (as far as I know) but I have eaten donkey, and it is —very— tasty, lean and flavorful.
Equine are animals - and though by some people they are also “pets” and imbued with human-like qualities, in fact they are animals, and good for eating.
You may “love” horses and not want to eat them yourself, but that means nothing to anyone else. It is your personal feeling. This should not give you any standing to tell someone else they cannot eat this or that.
IMHO
What does Intrade say about Obama announcing a free trade deal with Mongolia tomorrow?
Mooses eat horses?
Not that I wanted to, but I've eaten horse back in the 70's when beef went through the roof price wise.
I would dare to guess. It is to take care of the wild horse problem.
“I agree as long as it doesn’t look at me while I’m cooking it.”
Agreed.
People who are “so hungry they could.” :)
Not a bad idea. We can eat our transportation when we are done with it. Should solve the oil and global warming problem.
Yes, it has. 'Stop the slaughter' legislation resulted in a litany of sorrow and cruelty that beggars the imagination. Made the libs feel good, though. All they had to do was to close their eys and stopper their ears to the results of their very, very bad idea. As a horse owner and rescuer, I know this to be true.
. . . or maybe the opening line from a Monty Python skit. :)
