I’m sorry but the defenses put out by Cain supporters here are ... weird.
The ‘she’s a slut and he paid her for sex’ defense has been used.
The ‘all the dems are womanizers and adulters too’ defense.
That’s come to be our standard?
I admire loyalty but this is beginning to verge on stupidity.
I’ve been accused of a lot of things, liberal being the kindest, I guess, because I believe that Cain has a woman problem.
The Cain people are incredible. This last woman they’ve tried to destroy by calling her trash. She’s not the most sterling character in the world, but she’s not a lawbreaker, she’s just had financial problems.
Her story about the affair was very credible and she has (according to Fox News this morning) over 80 text messages from (or to and from) Cain.
There were people on the Cain thread saying stuff like ‘oh, I have a bunch of text messages to casual friends also.’
Please, give me a break. Cain is not a teenager to be dashing off text messages like crazy to everyone.
And then, these people are like, so what, I don’t care, people have sex.
What has this man done to inspire such blind and stupid loyalty. He’s done nothing. He came up from poverty but so did Rick Perry. He was a moderately successful businessman, an almost unknown talk show guy and had a job with the government involving math.
So that qualifies him to be president?
No, the thing that qualified him in the minds of his supporters was the kindly grandfather pose, the super conservative guy, faithful churchgoer and faithful husband.
With that image gone, he’s got nothing.
Just yesterday he dashed off a note asking for money, using phrases like ‘a disturbed woman’ and ‘promulated’ a story.
Who says ‘promulgated.’ It’s not in my every day vocabulary. He’s always using words like that to make himself sound smart, I guess.
Look, I defended him against the first 5 women, although I was a little taken aback by his behavior at that speech he was paid to make, not by the fact that he tried to get a dinner date with one of the attractive women but by the fact that after two of his female hosts agreed to go to dinner with him to distract him from his original choice, he ordered two bottles of $400 wine and left the two women with the bill.
Now, that’s just tacky.

The “nutz and slutz” Clinton defense is standard in cult of personality cases. You should not be surprised.
Imagine if ONE woman came out with this story but the male was Perry or Romney. Ya think she’d be called a whore?

I have known too many folks with this nasty adultery 'issue'. 13 years, 80 text messages. One of my best friends was caught messing around with a married woman, and they contacted each other at every turn, every possible moment. Another person I know had to cancel his detailed cell phone bill because it showed hundreds of contacts (calls/texts) a month. So many women, so many accusations, it does wear us down. I wonder what is really going on. But this little 13 years/80-text-messages fact leads me to think less of the accusers statement than more...

I was a Cain supporter before most people even knew who he was. Months ago co-workers asked me who I liked in the race and when I replied Cain, they always said, who?
I’m looking at the other options now with a more open mind, just in case. It’s the responsible thing to do.
And just for the record, you are not evil. I reserve the term evil for pedophiles, murderers, and the person who is currently trying to destroy my beloved country. I appreciate your comments on this thread and hope you continue to post. I enjoy learning via the exchange of thoughts and ideas ;-)

Was Cain’s wife aware of this 13 year friendship and Cain’s financial assistance to her?

and he's BLACK...the biggie...freepers have always been obsessed with race and racism and they think Cain is the ticket to prove from OUR SIDE how cool we are about "folks of a darker hue"
Years back it smelled of this at least to me. I have never been impressed with him and have heard folks here loudly proclaim over and over how great it would be to shove a black man in the face of the media and left.,..and it would be if Cain were a black Palin or Reagan but he's not
Over the years folks here have gone gaga over Powell, Condi, Steele and Watts...all disappointments and now they are race high over Cain and West...it never ends
I simply do not drink at that well and never have in adulthood and never will and view Cain as just another conservative businessman with a radio show and a minister's ordination who has a lot of clouds around him about womanizing and tit for tat sexual adventures which folks here claim all are all lies and a grand conspiracy.
Cain lied basically at the beginning of the payoff/settlement/severance scandal when he claimed he did not recall...in fact he did recall according to GOP witnesses in his 2003 campaign...but they are lying too
it goes on and on...Cain is not really ill informed on foreign affairs, Cain did not really waffle on abortion, and so forth...just yesterday he claimed immigration was a matter for the states
How can reasonable folks just ignore all that? Would they ignore it all from a conservative white male candidate...?

Does with Newt too a bit to be frank but I'm more used to his talks too much wonk and I know where I differ with him with his huge track record
