This is a wish that has nothing to do with reality.
The Tea Party got candidates elected, Palin's popularity is undeniable, the most recognizable Republican voices in America are all conservative--none of this has gotten us a great conservative in the race.
Letting Romney lose, though, will result in the RNC suddenly waking up and saying 'Oh WOW! We should push CONSERVATIVES!"
When have these 'sit at home on election day' messages ever actually achieved conservative goals?
If Romney loses, the RNC will think 'Well, it's hard to defeat a sitting president,' or, worse, 'Them damn conservatives can't be counted on, why should we support them?"
If you were in charge of the RNC, and the country clubbers stayed home and led to your conservative candidate losing, would YOU suddenly say "Hey, I'd better get out there looking for good country club Republicans?"
Your comment discounts everything you know about human nature, if you think about it.
I've never seen these kinds of messages do a thing. Pushing hard for a conservative candidate, and then pushing for whoever the general candidate is and telling him 'We expect this, this and this from you' gives them a reason to want to please.
Sitting at home makes you invisible on election day. Which would make Obama happier--you voting for whoever opposes him, or you staying home?
I didn't say we should sit at home, I said I am not voting for Romney - no way, no how. And 'what makes Obama happy' - I don't think he could be happier than having an 'R' in the White House that believes in the same things he does. At least Obama is clueless. Mitt, on the other hand, has leadership skills and such. I fear the damage he could 'reach across the aisle' and create...
