RE: Geez, this is great. CA made the list.
At least it is not #57 :)
What b*s*
CT ranks far above Florida !!#@
Florida debt per person $2k ish
CT debt per person $8k ish
CT suicidal spending creates the smoke and mirrors to appear better off — NOT!
That's because we have something like 3 Republicans in our Assembly and 2 in the State Senate.
If we could only get rid of those guys!
I’d like to see the list broken down according to political representation by Party.
The inclusion of this metric makes this whole exercise irrelevant as to 'how well managed' a state is! It is the responsibility of the individual to obtain health insurance. It is NOT the state's responsibility to see it's citizens are insured.
Nearly all the top ten(except VA) have a very low percentage of the ‘96% who voted for Obama’ residence.
Draw your own conclusions...
I’m from California and I say we are ranked 57th.

Obama has requested to see the stats of the 7 states that did not make the list.
“...Austere spending comes at a price, however. Nearly a quarter of the states residents are without health insurance. Also, only 80.9% of Texans 25 years or older graduated from high school. While this is an improvement from its 2003 rate of 77%, it is tied with California for worst among all states. “
And, much of that can be attributed to illegal immigration.
So, whenever state debt and default is discussed, Californicatia is mentioned... hardly ever Marxachusetts. Nevertheless, this list has CA debt at $3600/PC and MA at $11000... what gives? Will my state default 3 times sooner than CA?
Though I don’t disagree with the pathologically Blue states tending toward the bottom of the rankings, this looks like more of an analysis of which states have the highest percentages of habitual deadasses.
I would add, that the “best run” states are those in which government is small and interferes with the private sector as little as possible.
NONE of the 50 states is nearly as governmentally trim as they OUGHT to be.
Draw your own conclusions...
Then there might be an ethnic/class component in here somewhere?
(New York) State put freeze on hiring, then added 51,464 people
Check out the price tag.
Bump.
Yeah!! We’re number 22!!
At least Connecticut is in the top half of the list
