When Hillary Clinton was on the campaign trail in 2008 and spoke at Scranton High School, the line to get tickets a few days before her appearance stretched about 1,000 people long.
Monday's line to grab the available free tickets to President Barack Obama's speech Wednesday was noticeably shorter about 225 people were waiting when the doors opened for the distribution.
"It's a little disappointing to see that," said Cathy Kneeland, 64, of Scranton, who showed up more than three hours early to stand in line and found herself second. "You would think more people would want to see the president speak."
Wednesday's scheduled speech will be Obama's first stop in northeastern Pennsylvania since he campaigned for president in 2008.
Obama supporters, however, don't seem to be wavering. George Childs, 61, of Scranton, is on the front lines of the jobs debate, having been unemployed since January when he lost his six-year job as a stockroom employee. Before that, he worked at a slaughterhouse for 10 years before it closed.
"I would like to see what he has to say about jobs," Childs said from his spot first in line. "I want to see what he has to offer someone like me."
Barbara Yavuchak of Scranton said while she's "very worried" about the country, she was, like many Obama supporters standing in line Monday, blaming Republicans for blocking much of what Obama has tried to get done.
"I feel very sorry for (Obama)," she said. "He stepped into a terrible situation. But it hasn't made me not support him. I know quite a few people who have (lost faith in Obama), but I know what he's up against."

200 in the middle of Bob Casey land? That ain’t good....for Bacrock.
Guess that explains why PENNDOT’s been busy making long overdue repairs and resurfacing I-84.
Maybe while Obama is hanging there, he can stop in at Joe Biden’s favorite diner, Katie’s Restaruant. Ooops, guess not. Katie’s was closed years ago.
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll dig up some union thugs to pose for the cameras.

A shame, really - there must be a great many people who would love the opportunity to tell their grandchildren that they once saw in person the worst president in the entire history of the nation.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...
“You would think more people would want to see the president speak.”
First of all, you can’t see anyone say anything = you have to hear it. Typical supporters of the DEM party - lack of education shows.
Frankly, I’m embarrassed that even a single fellow Scrantonian is still duped by this repugnant Marxist. Bob
He certainly will. Right now I give him a 50-50 chance of winning. We get a RINO like Romney and its a done deal for him.

You are correct, that is you will be if the so called “principled” Conservative voters decide their quest for the perfect Conservative outweighs the very survival of the nation and stay home on election day, smug in their self righteousness, as the country crumbles around them.

Yep. They don’t have to beat us. All they have to do is play us like a fiddle and watch us beat ourselves.
They’re propping up each “conservative” candidate in turn, then watching us turn on them and tear them to pieces (”Cain’s a womanizer! I saw it on the news! I KNEW he wasn’t gonna last!” .... “I’m never voting for Newt! He’s in favor of amnesty and, besides, he sat next to Nancy Pelosi once!”), leaving Romney as the last man standing.
Then they’re REALLY gonna have fun with him (and us), so by the time he actually starts campaigning against Obama he’s going to have to fight an entire faction of his own party as WELL as the Democrats - hopefully (in their plan) insuring a win for Obama.
Look... I want the “perfect” candidate, TOO (unfortunately, my personal choice decided to stay home and shoot moose). Unfortunately, NONE of these people is anywhere NEAR perfect, either as a candidate, a conservative, or as a human being. However, with the exception of the moonbat, any of them would be preferable to the horrible thought of having that incompetent vacationer-in-chief re-elected.
Someone needs to tell Cathy they are all elsewhere trying to find work, thanks to the economy killer - Zero, her hero.
Hey Mr. Childs are you White? If you are,all you need to do if you want to know what he will do for someone like you is Read the Article In the New York Times Yesterday,ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Good Luck.

Yet, there are some who still enthusiastically support Obama.
The likely reason that not more showed up for tickets is that people are too busy working for low wages attempting to put food on the table. Yet, these same people continue to vote and act like sheep, refusing to see an alternative to the Democrat Party.
A classic example of people getting the type of government they deserve?
I seriously doubt Obama will be making a whole lot of public appearances with this kind of turnout, I bet he takes another extended vacation soon.
Maybe more people would show up if he started a rock band and called themselves “Buckwheat and the Boys”. Might even get 250 people.........sarc
I hear that so often from Obama supporters. “He is just being blamed for an impossible situation” knowing full well that if it were still Bush in office, they would be calling for his head.
Morons.
You're only nine years away from appearing before a 'death panel' as a 'unit'. Don't make any long-term plans...
“You would think more people would want to see the president speak.”
Really, I wound not go to heaven to see or hear him speak.
Actually, it’s $20 to leave after five minutes, $50 after ten minutes, then it declines by 50 cents a minute.
