When I saw Barney was not running again, I actually for real had a Fizzies party! Just found a box of them at Cracker Barrel.

I say hunt him down and bring him to justice no matter where he flees to. Grand theft and embezzlement are not congressional perks like insider trading has become. Millions of Americans are suffering for his excesses now.
At this point, I don't think one needs to be a conspiracy theorist to expect many of our elected officials to flee the country over the next few years.

Hes saying that the district is more conservative than it was, and he cant win re-election. I hope hes right, but I suspect its due more to the fact that he doesnt want to expose himself publicly given the mood of the electorate.
I agree with your suspicion. Recall that in the last election cycle he 1.) had a GOP opponent who actively used his culpability in the financial meltdown against him and 2.) actually admitted to the Boston Globe (or maybe it was the Herald) that he assumed the Bush Admin warnings on Fannie and Freddie were just politics, so he played politics right back.
If he was looking at a race that he would win by only 5 points, he'd know that he'd get the cr*p kicked out of him so thoroughly that even in winning there'd be negative cascading consequences throughout Dem races - not only would he have to raise a ginormous amount of money (that could go elsewhere), the heightened emphasis on the role he played in enabling the behaviors that led to the meltdown would command multiple national news cycles. IOW he'd have a Pyrrhic victory that would damage other races ...

A somewhat bitter Barney Frank....a move he said was triggered by redistricting that left him with too many new constituents to serve as a lame-duck legislator. Entitled swine. Mass typically votes 45% or more Republican in national elections (and sometimes even higher as in the Scott Brown race). And yet people like BF demand that MA forever be represented by Democrat congresspeople only, and anything else is a violation of the rules.

“We need a Route 95 rest stop named after Congressman Barney Frank.”
Yep,and I know just the place on 95-—LOL.
The Frank Fens could also be dedicated for his years in Boston before he carpetbagged to Middlesex.

“If I remember history correctly, the reason Frank got elected in the first place was due to redistricting which caused longtime prolife Republican Congresswoman Margaret Heckler to lose her seat.”

Interesting. Margaret Heckler was a moderate/liberal Republican who was and is prolife on abortions. I wish more of the liberal Republicans were like that.

I didn’t know Massachusetts had such a conservative Democrat governor at that time. No wonder he later became a Republican.

If Margaret Heckler was the most liberal a Republican could be and if the Democrats were more like Ed King was I think our nation and culture would be a lot better off.
