The Inconvenient Truth About Newt (Gun Grabber Alert!)
nationalgunrights.org ^ | November 21, 2011 | staff

Posted on 11/28/2011 2:35:29 PM PST by BarnacleCenturion

In 1996, Newt Gingrich turned his back on guns and voted for the anti-gun Brady Campaign’s Lautenberg Gun Ban, which strips the Second Amendment rights of citizens involved in misdemeanor domestic violence charges or temporary protection orders –- in some cases for actions as minor as spanking a child or grabbing a spouse’s wrist.

Gingrich even called the anti-gun measure “reasonable,” and predicted that it would sail through his Republican-controlled House of Representatives with little trouble.

The Lautenberg Gun Ban is one of the Congressional Republicans’ worst betrayals of gun owners, and those complicit in its passage deserve nothing but contempt from gun owners.

This gun control measure ranks right up there with the Brady Registration Act as the most aggressive gun control in America, denying hundreds of thousands of would-be gun owners the right to self defense.

Gingrich also stood shoulder to shoulder with Nancy Pelosi to pass the “Criminal Safezones Act” which prevents armed citizens from defending themselves in certain arbitrary locations. You and I both know that Criminal Safezones don’t protect law-abiding citizens, but actually protect the criminals who ignore them.

As you can see, Newt Gingrich is no friend of gun owners, or small government conservatives. He simply can’t be trusted, and his record reflects his contempt not only for the truth, but his own integrity and the integrity of the very people he’s asking to vote for him to be the most powerful man in the modern world.

Let’s see.

- amnesty: check
- global warming scam: check
- gun grabber: check
- attacks conservatives of right-wing social engineering: check
- supports liberals like Dede in NY-23 over conservative: check

Tell me again, which party Newt belongs to?

Yes, I’m sure he looks nice in debate and he has fabulous wife (no wonder he dumped the first two!).

There will be no one left on the GOP ticket when the MSM is finished with them.

“I will not vote for Newt........”

Then you voted for Obama with your non-vote. This is exactly what the democrats want and you are playing right into their hands. None of the republican candidates are ideal conservatives, so get used to that fact.

Spousal abuse is a crime. Child abuse is a crime. Carrying a gun with convictions on those grounds is not particularly comforting if you’re the wife or child.

Very doubtful that the degrees of harm inflicted was minutae that Newt got into. In fact, “NO”, Newt did not personally pencil out arm twisting by degrees. As in twisting the arm off, or until it breaks, or just giving it a refrigerator jerk. Come on. Show me. Where did Newt pencil that in?

If Cain can't regain his momentum, Perry is starting to look better and better. (Yes, I know Cain's stand on 2nd Amendment is “leave it to the states to decide” ...which to me means “status quo” ...but I live in a Commonwealth that has reasonably decent 2nd Amendment support; so, I understand that some who do not may not feel to confident in Cain's position.)

It has been my observation that as huge scandals like the Fed's revelation that it loaned out $8 Trillion to the big banks even as TARP was being passed in Congress go almost unremarked as the MSM has Republicans dancing to its song of "Let's You and Him Fight."

All of the back biting and infighting among people in the Republican Party will leave us broken by the time we have a nominee.

Too many purists would have us with a second Obama term because they are so attached to one candidate or so nit picky on other candidates that they can say "I won't vote for (fill in the blank).

I will say it loud and proud, I will enthusiastically vote for whomever the Republican Party nominee is--including Mitt--to get the Clown Prince Narcissist in Chief out of office.

Why?! Why should true conservatives always have to settle for someone less than what they want? Do liberals ever do that? Hell No!! They always go for the most radical, neo-commie they can dredge up, while we get stuck with the sugar-free, fat-free, personality-free bozo whose turn it happens to be. I’m sick of it. What’s B-1 Bob Dornan doing these days?

This is not “news” in the “Firearms Community” ! Nor is Newt’s voting support of the “Lautenberg Law” (actually an amendment to the “Consolidated Appropiations Act of 1997” ) But, like so much in an individual’s dealings with the government, “the devil’s in the details” - or a faceless bureaucracy’s “interpretations” thereof !

Hence the putative reason - to protect partners from “domestic violence” expanded to encompass any physical altercation involving a police report. It also was “stretched” - in many jurisdictions - to include such things as old DUI, or juvenile crimes, even neighbor spats. Suddenly, people with years of honorable living and pillars of their church/community were suddenly/unexpectedly being arrested and publicly accused of serious felonious crimes for misdemeanor offenses decades in their past ! >PS

Protected by the cloak of Freeper anonymity, I wish to say that I (a previous Neut doubter) am growing fond of the glandularly pudgy little weasel. He sure can debate OK, and seems to know much more than the other fellows in the "debates," (Debates? Jeez, more like the homomedia's not-so-subtle attempt to make the Republicans all look like jerks.)

What about if we team him up with a strong man like Bachmann to keep him focused Right-of-Center? As far as all these Mexicans running loose in the country,
Step 1 has to be securing the border.
Step 2 has to be stopping issuing citizenship to anchor babies, which has absolutely no basis in law.
Step 3 could be stronger enforcing of employer, licensing, voter registration, school enrollment, and above all public assistance requirements.
Step 4. In general, we have to make it clear that the brown-butted-border-bounders are just plain not welcome here. In a nice, non-racist way, of course. They're pretty good people. They're just not OUR people. Besides, who's supposed to run Mexico if they're all here?

Thanks for pointing out his votes on gun control. Once again, Bachmann is the only conservative running. It is either elect Bachmann or else elect a liberal.

I am tired of the hit peaces on Newt here at FreeRepublic. Any one of the Republican candidates hold the USA in highest regards! Enough already. Write your hit pieces about liberals!
