I read a story of a man who was robbed in the parking lot of the gun store - they took his new purchase right out of his hands. I wish that had turned out differently, like the guy was already a CCW holder.

It's odd that this news outfit sought to portray a person defending her home as becoming a victim of her right to defense. Am I reading too much into this? Nope, you have it exactly right.
The media are the lowest scum on the planet - and that's saying something.

North Carolina's new Castle doctrine takes effect Dec. 1st. North Carolina will soon see a steep drop in crime...
(while liberals debate if the drop is happening because of lack of inflation or a new version of midnight basketball... )

Years ago, wifey was on a jury involving a case where a follow-home dude beat up a woman in her garage while robbing her.
The thrust of much of the case was 'did she fall down outside the garage or inside the threshold' - it made quite a difference as to the severity.........much more degree of guilt if she'd gotten knocked down within the garage.

Last Christmas wifey got me something I'd wanted for a long time.....a 'Skil' brand lithium ion rechargable power cutter; it makes slicing up a huge box a thirty second job - zips through cardboard and plastic like soft butter.

Very cool gift! Sounds like your wife must know you very, very well! I bet you were happy as a clam when you opened that gift!

You might be reading too much into this.
This IS Florida.
We generally shoot to kill, in self-defense. Especially when defending our homes and family.
I thought the headline ok, but it would have been more accurate if it had read:
“Wounded Mom defending home shot, killed intruder.”
To bad the accomplice got away...for now.Prayers for the family.

Well, the fact remains that experienced journalists write headlines in the present tense to make the content seem relevant. And headlines are short and to the point :-)

The title of “experienced journalist” is about on par with “successfull used car salesman”, nowadays.
The only people willing to buy what they sell, have already decided on the price they are able to pay.
And the next time a reporter rudely shoves a mic in front of my face, I will break the battery cover.
Go ahead, try and get that part replaced!
LOL!
